It was Ling who spoke, or Greed, or both of them. Lan Fan’s breath hitched in their throat as his fingers tugged at the collar of their robe, baring the white skin of their right shoulder.
“Be good to us,” he bade, and Lan Fan screwed their eyes shut. Beneath the roar of his own desire, Greed could feel Lan Fan’s will weakening to their own wants — their desire to please Ling, their compulsion to obey him, their bone-deep need to fulfill his every whim.
But this wasn’t a whim. It had never been a mere fancy.
Lan Fan was, and always would be, the one thing he treasured as much as all of the kingdom of Xing.
And whatever Ling wanted, so did Greed.

Envy’s stance is relaxed and open, one hand perched on their hip, their weight shifted to one foot. Their dark hair is pulled into a loose braid of Edward’s design, and their skin shines with sweat, though they show no other signs of exertion. Their narrow eyes appraise him — calm, but for the edge of danger that undercuts their every expression.
“Well, runt?” they say, lifting their hands at their sides. Their palms sprout long blades with wide bellies and tasseled hilts — a pair of twin dāo meant for dual-wielding. “Are you gonna make the first move, or what?”
Edward grins and digs his heels in, and in a burst of energy, he charges forward.

The surgeon arrived as they were pulling off the remains of Smokey's shirt, and even through the chaos, Hiroto noticed their hands hesitate. A quick peek through their shifting bodies showed that Smokey had been wearing something underneath his clothes — a dark, tight material clinging to his chest, ripped open along the wound and soaked through with blood.
"Smokey…" said one of the boys — Takeshi, thought Hiroto. He had a boyish face and mistrustful eyes, but his gaze when he turned to Smokey was nothing but gentle. "Your binder…"
Hiroto cocked his head. Smokey, facedown on the mattress, gripped the metal bars of the bedframe and rasped, "Cut it off."

Luckily, one fruit makes it; unluckily, some dumbass Beifong in a mechanical spirit suit takes it upon himself to swallow the fruit in one go. The resulting spiritual outburst is pure chaos.
