Denki knew the smell encasing his mind, it was familiar, almost fatherly. His brain knew the soft fabric that accompanied the familiar scent meant him no harm. He couldn’t articulate that into words, far too weak to say all that.
“Smells,” he mumbled while nuzzling the fabric more. Denki could feel the chest he was laid against rumble. He was cutting in and out, but he knew he heard a gruff yet tender voice go,
‘What…smell…like’
Denki mustered up all his strength, gulping down what little saliva his body could produce to quench his dry throat and heavy tongue. In what was probably his weakest voice he ever had, Denki muttered a single word.
“Home”
And just like that, Denki was out cold.

And then Cementoss will sigh in exasperation and tell Aizawa-sensei about his behaviour, and then his homeroom teacher will have to lecture him on disobedience, and Kaminari has sat through enough lectures to know that he can’t handle one today. He already feels shitty enough that he has to deal with these seizures, and being told what a shit student he is isn’t really going to boost morale.
Kaminari thinks the side effects from his quirk can't get any worse. So, obviously, they do.

Denki has a quirk accident while training with friends, injuring all of them and himself. He finds himself outcasted by everyone he knows. Recovery and forgiveness are long roads, but Denki doesn't plan on quitting anytime soon.
*** 5/29/2025: I am currently going through and updating some spelling and grammar issues throughout the fic, along with re-wording some things to help with the flow of it. I wrote this fic when I was 17 and in the last two years, my style has changed quite a bit in a way I feel is more comprehensive and I feel like it's time that I edit this. I'm also trying to get back into writing fics and I think this is a good first step. I'm hoping to perfect this as much as possible and make it worthy of the love it's received.
