Summary
“Heh. Just look at you,” Narumi mutters, getting a good look at his face by yanking his head back to appraise him. “You sure do like kissing, huh.”
Breathless, mouth parted, Hoshina peers up at him, unsure of what he means. Narumi's cheeks are incandescent. Those magenta eyes study his face as if there's something to be discovered, completely trained on his features. To see Narumi leer down, with irises molten liquid and otherworldly, it sends an electric jolt straight up Hoshina's spine.
During a group dinner between their divisions, Hoshina has run his mouth one too many times at Narumi's expense. It's all in good fun, of course. That is, until Narumi pulls Hoshina down a dark hallway and teaches him a proper lesson.
Maybe then, Hoshina will learn some manners.

It’s almost comical, Soushirou thinks, how exhausted he had felt before this and yet how immediately he reacted to it — suddenly fueled by a burning fervor that rivals him on his best days. The corners of his mouth already ticking upward as he considers what to say; what response would draw this out the longest. Would buy him enough time to turn Narumi’s pretty little eyes and starlit gaze toward him for even a fraction of a second, whether they be ruby red in their most natural state or blooming pink out of frustration. Willing to push himself through however many additional hours of physical exertion this might demand of him for it.

Summary
Hoshina had absolutely no problem fighting – if Narumi really wanted to go, Hoshina wasn't going to stop him. In fact, even if he was far better at controlling himself – especially in front of the rest of the Defense Force – Hoshina wanted a fight just as badly as Narumi did.
He had never claimed to be any more well-behaved than Narumi.
He and Narumi were two sides of the same coin, and they had seen the parts of each other that no one else would ever see, because even though they were as different as fire and water, in the end they were the same.
Hoshina and Narumi see each other again and things go completely and totally as expected (they fight, they fuck, they still don't know they're in love)

Narumi takes a deep breath. Now, he thinks, would be the perfect time to say something cool.
Unfortunately, that’s also when his earpiece crackles to life.
Vice-captain Hoshina is engaging the second kaiju, reports the control room.
“Hoshina,” grits Narumi out unthinkingly.
“Oh!” the reporter gasps breathily. Her cheeks pinken. Before them, the cameraman chokes.
Or: After a misconstrued interview with the media, Narumi is obliged to fake-date Hoshina for the sake of the Defense Force's publicity ratings. Along the way, Narumi gains a roommate, struggles with his feelings, and discovers just how difficult it is to tell where a pretend relationship ends and a real one begins.

Narumi winces slightly, not liking the fact that Hoshina seems to know him very well. They're a pebble in each other's shoes; Hoshina shouldn't be asking him to spar as if they were on friendly terms.
