Summary
Short, ragged breaths of one of his executives are a little too much to ignore.
Normally, he probably would, but it's Kouyou, of all people. She never goes as far as to suddenly invade his office at night, even if she's very persistent in convincing him to get more rest.

Summary
The kiss is long, and objectively unnecessary. It’s not like anyone can see them in the faint light of street lanterns, but when they pull away from each other, breathing heavily, Kouyou finally knows why it was so easy.

Summary
“I have to look through all of these until Friday,” he explains, apologetically, so her expression would finally soften. Instead, the woman sighs and places the files she brought on the desk, far from his reach.
“You won’t look through anything if you keep sitting here, looking like you’re going to pass out any second,” she says resignedly and rests her palms on the surface of the desk, leaning towards him.

Summary
"It doesn't matter. You can tell me, if that makes you feel better." The hand that's been brushing her hair stops for a moment, then starts to gently scratch the back of her head, which elicits a small gasp of pleasure and relief out of Kouyou. "You're safe here with me."

Summary
"You must really care about your subordinates if you left all of your 'boss duties' to visit me," she comments briefly, eyeing him from head to foot.
Mori, once again, feels a sharp pain in his chest.
"Yeah," he nods. "Yes, I do."
or,
Kouyou is hit by an ability and Mori finds himself longing for something.

Summary
“What are you doing?” Kouyou’s voice sounds weak and sleepy, but Mori doesn’t immediately let go of her hair and pretend like nothing happened. He slowly puts the strand down where it had been laying before and pats it gently for it to blend with the others.
Yes, he’s definitely delirious.

Summary
“Ougai,” she completely ignores his suggestion, looking directly into his violet eyes that she has been cherishing for a while now. The eyes that have the weird, but mesmerizing shade of purple that she can’t stop staring at whenever they are close to each other. “Have you ever loved me?”

Summary
When the excessive amount of blood is cleaned, he picks up a syringe filled with anesthetic (he doesn't even know why he still has such things hidden somewhere around his office, they should have been carried to the infirmary a long time ago; on the other hand, it’s not strong, it can only diminish the pain — not numb her whole body). Elise glares at him with something close to contempt.
“Can't she withstand it without anesthetic?” The girl rolls her eyes and for the first time in his life, Mori feels an urge to turn away and ignore the question coming from her.
One look at Kouyou's face, twisted in a grimace of agony, tells him everything.

Summary
“I feel strange,” she confesses and rolls up her sleeve to show more scars that should be staining her arm, but instead, there is just clear skin — untouched, like they have never even been there in the first place. Mori traces the nonexistent marks with his fingers with an unintelligible expression, but the gesture seems somehow affectionate, especially when she notices that he remembers exactly where they were. “Not like me.”

Summary
“I haven’t seen this much snow in Yokohama for quite a long time,” she comments, to prevent her thoughts from further development. The snowfall intensifies with every minute and it is easy to predict that soon, they will be unable to watch anything more than a cold, white mess of the delicate snow petals.
“Me neither,” Mori says softly. There’s something in his expression, something that perhaps expresses attachment to the city; at least that’s how Kouyou interprets it, glancing at him out of the corner of her eye. “It always melts before you get to enjoy it properly,” the man sighs. The executive feels the air move when he turns his face to her; his violet irises focus on her while she tries to keep the flush from creeping up her cheeks.

Summary
Perhaps it's out of bashfulness, perhaps to tease her, but he doesn’t do anything about it; quite the contrary, his lips just move further away from hers, first brushing over the corner of her mouth, then leaving a mark of hot breath on her cheek.
“Are you teasing me?” Kouyou speaks, annoyed, trying to keep herself from exclaiming a frustrated whine when he kisses her jaw for just a second and pulls away.
“No.” Warmth hits her face when he chuckles. “Patience is a virtue, darling.”

Summary
“This is the last time,” Kouyou says and a hot breath hits Mori's face, but her voice is full of doubt. “Right?”
The unwillingness to ask this question is evident, not only in her eyes, but also in the other little gestures: in the calloused palm that tenderly strokes the man's jaw, in the way her fingers are gently entangled in his hair and the way their foreheads touch, hers being much warmer than his, naturally.
“The last,” he promises, very well aware of the fact that he’s lying.

Summary
This Christmas revolves around not just one, but two very important matters.
One is much more personal, the other, somehow work-related, despite them being strongly connected to each other. So strongly that Mori spends way too much of his time in the office just holding a pen over yet another sheet of paper, frozen in place, deeply immersed in thought. Elise cheerfully roams around the room every now and then, sticking her (now Christmas-themed) drawings to the walls with glue or colorful tape that he bought to pack presents, completely unfazed by the man’s indifferent state towards the real world.

Summary
“It doesn’t have to be special,” she says in the end. The decision she has made causes the prickly feeling in her throat, chest and even eyes, although she blinks a few times to get rid of it and the embarrassment connected to the fact that such a thing could ever make her tear up. She props herself up on her elbows, causing him to groan because of the sudden change in position. “In fact, I don’t think I really want anything from you.”
“Sweet nothing, huh?” Mori frowns with the corner of his lips quirked up in a small smile. “Is that so?”

Summary
“Ougai,” Kouyou says softly and places her palms on both sides of his face. There must be some small cuts on her skin, because he can feel it touch his cheeks, but nevertheless, she succeeds with directing his focus at her. “Really, I'm alright. Those are just scratches. We expected that.”
“But you’re bleeding,” Mori almost whispers, suddenly feeling vulnerable. He tries not to think about how pathetic he must look, leaning into her touch yearningly, as if he hadn’t seen her for years.
“The glass shards got me,” she rolls her eyes in embarrassment. “It’s nothing.”
Her breath feels hot on his face. With the way she looks at him, he feels a strong urge to lean forward and simply kiss her.

Summary
Contrary to the one in the office, the floor of the adjacent apartment is made of hardwood; it creaks under Mori’s feet whenever he walks in.
The decision to come back to the bedroom wasn’t easy — in fact, he still isn’t sure whether he can actually manage to do that, but every attempt to take care of some of his paperwork met with little success. His eyelids immediately felt too heavy the moment he picked up his pen.
What is surprising is that when he approaches the bed, Kouyou is sound asleep, or at least she seems to be. With how many nights they spent together, he is perfectly aware that she is a light sleeper and doesn’t usually let him slip from under the blanket without noticing it somehow. There had been nights when she followed him back into the office and sat there, helped him with paperwork and dragged back to bed in no time.

Summary
“Look who’s finally awake.”
The warm air that hits Kouyou’s face is definitely a nice sensation in the morning, along with the sound of Mori’s soft, albeit hoarse voice. She lets her eyelids flutter open and stares at the familiar, amused face beside her.
“Mhm,” she only hums in answer, realizing that all of her body feels sore. “What time is it?” she manages to mutter, trying to figure out how to change her position and experience no pain at all.
“Nine,” Mori responds, bringing a hand to her hair and brushing her bangs out of her face. A trail of quite fresh bruises on his neck and collarbone reveals itself right in front of her eyes. Right, she realizes with a small smirk forming on her lips. She’s responsible for that. “We’ve slept in, haven’t we?”

Summary
Given how much he likes to tease her on a daily basis, she expected something entirely different when they did it for the first time. By now, she stopped counting and it stopped being awkward between them. Right now, it was a matter of a question, a meaningful glance over the desk in his office, or simply a kiss or two on his face and neck when he was working. Just a small gesture, established since God-knows-when, and he was hers.
Mori kisses her again; he nibbles on her bottom lip slightly, not too roughly, because he knows she doesn't like it when he gets rough with that. The wooden surface of the desk digs into her lower back painfully when she leans into the kiss, but his palm almost immediately rushes there to caress the place comfortingly.

Summary
Mori likes to admire his creation, hence his frequent habit of standing in front of the giant window in his office and glancing over the peaceful Yokohama that he brings stability to.
Nevertheless, the sight which he is gazing upon right now definitely differs from what he usually observes. It seems much more mundane than his profound objective of protecting the city — but is it, really? Even if his ‘artwork’ concerns a quite superficial aspect and definitely will remain hidden everywhere besides this apartment, he can’t help but feel a little tinge of satisfaction.
or,
Mori, Kouyou and a lazy morning.
