Summary
She’s earned a break. Just for a moment, she’ll let herself slow down.
Her chin droops forward. Her eyes fall shut. She takes a deep breath. Then another, and one more. Around her, the room fades away. She’s not in her coding cave, she’s not anywhere near the conference room or the animation studio or Ian’s office, where their ideas had woven together. The noise fades out, even though her headphones are still clamped firmly over her ears. She feels weightless, like the finished task has actually lifted itself from her shoulders.

Whumptober Day Two: "They don't care about you."
He shouldn’t have looked.
Jamie knew he shouldn’t have looked.
Whatever papers spilled out of the folder when he accidentally kicked it off of Roy’s coffee table, he shouldn’t have looked at them. They’re Roy’s not his; he was just trying to use his toes to scratch his itchy calf.
But he did look.
And looking got him to here: sitting on the living room carpet, staring at Roy's contract renewal for AFC Richmond.

Tim is there, sitting on a vinyl-covered stool beside the exam table. She trusts him to listen now and fill her in later. He’s already been invaluable today, calling in her officer down while he chased down the suspect she’d followed over a chain-link fence.
She’ll pay dearly for it later, she’s sure. Probably in weeks of extra paperwork once she’s healed, and a whole new series of Tim Tests she can’t even begin to imagine.
But for now, he can do the listening for her too.
Or, Lucy breaks her wrist on duty. Tim takes care of her, out of more than professional obligation.

She should put it back. Whatever it is, it’s Will’s business, not hers. If she needed to hear it, he would tell her. Since he hasn’t said anything about it, she doesn’t need to worry.
But it doesn’t take long for curiosity to get the best of her. If nothing else, she wonders what, exactly, about that day had stuck out so much in Will’s mind. Which case it was, or what musings he wants the option to revisit later.
There’s an extra tape recorder in the living room, she knows. It doesn’t take long before she’s found it in a drawer and popped the tape into place.
