Crimson patches with jagged edges, purple and lilac spirals, dark grey holes, dirty layers of brown and earth over scarlet — rage, passion, hunger, shame. And finally, someone else's presence — a light blue calmness with white and gold shimmers of purity, woven into a pulsing thread to which the spirals of passion and hunger pull.
Someone very important and powerful, if one sip of blood has turned Verso into an emotion-obsessed idiot. Monoco hopes for himself and his friend's sake that no one notices his aura.

Of note, this is the only work in this category I know of that is about a Primordial Loyalist instead of one of the ones trying to rebel against the Yozi or Neverborn. At least I haven't seen one of those crossing over with Worm.

The blood continues to call to him on the first and third nights.
On the fourth night, Verso can't take it anymore and starts walking around Gustave's coterie haven. Sciel catches him with her eyes several times and waves her hand as if he were an old friend.
On the fifth night, Lune demonstratively performs a ritual of counting coup, and Verso hears a cold “Go away” in his head.
On the sixth night, only Gustave remains in the haven, and Verso can't take it anymore. He pushes the unlocked door and meets his gaze. Gustave comes closer.
“I hunger for you,” Verso confesses and closes his eyes, feeling the alluring scent of vitae. Their cold bodies almost touch. “I think about you every night when you're not with me, and I'm tormented by the desire to drink from you when you are near.”
The blood of Alexander of Paris boils in his dead veins, demanding to subjugate and devour, and Verso struggles to restrain the Beast.
Oh, how he would love to carry Gustave inside him.
