“What the hell is wrong with you! And why do you keep gettin’ me presents?” the android questioned and held the item in front of Nines’ face. “On Valentine's day, at that. Wrapped in,” Gavin halted, raised his hand and crumpled the paper, “hell, there are pink hearts printed all over it!” he fumed and stashed the paper into his pockets.
The LED continued circling yellow. An annoyed groan escaped the android’s throat before he walked past Nines, carrying the item - too big for his pockets - in his hands. The scenery looked as perfect as Nines had imagined.

“The fffff-uck did you do to me, plastic?” Gavin shouted, strong and furious as ever.
Hank and Connor’s heads turned at the sight of Gavin brushing himself off. His stubble was neatly tamed, complimenting the shining grey of the android uniform draped around his shoulders. The scar on his nose was gone.
“Holy shit.” Hank mouthed, looking him over. “Reed’s an android.”

Kamski goes missing, Hank, Connor, and Gavin are sent to investigate. None of them expected they’d soon go missing themselves.
When they wake up, everything they know has changed. Connor’s human, the humans are androids, and worse? The android revolution never happened. Pretty soon, they all get a taste of what it’s like to walk in someone else’s shoes.

Hesitantly putting his arms around Gavin’s torso, the human skidded closer to hug his partner from behind.Gavin and Nines are on the run from the authorities, but the december weather of detroit isn't on their side. They seek shelter in an old amusement park, but the human detective is still at risk of hypothermia. His android partner decides it's better to offer some of his warmth instead of letting the other freeze to death.

Nines had always been perfectly content doing his job solo. So when he showed up one evening with a new partner, even he was among those genuinely surprised at the sudden change.

Not only that, but an assholish android who deems it necessary to not only question Gavin's professionalism but also invades his personal life. Ironically, the deviant may have a better grasp of living than Gavin Reed does.
What is there to say when you realize the machines you mistreated are no more a monster than you are?

The RK900 thought this would be a simple task. Prove his invaluableness to the precinct, solve cases, and move up as quickly as possible. Annoying his partner was just a treat on top of an already perfect plan. But Gavin Reed may be the one mystery Nines can't solve. Especially when it turns out that the detective and the android may have more in common than he initially thought.

[Human!Nines & Android!Gavin daily adventures - two idiots forever in denial]
Gavin was broken - Nines despised the word but Gavin used it ever so often, he caught himself using it as well. For the android deviancy had not only been a blessing but also a curse - at least, that's how Gavin constantly described it.
The android had been forced into deviancy and going from feeling nothing at all to everything at once took a toll on him. Combined with a foul temper, emotions turned out an overwhelming force, that caused many of his functions to fail, whenever his emotions got too strong. Gavin once compared it to overheating just... without the actual heat.
