This ff is my idea to explain Gavin's hate for androids. (Part 2)
In the eyes of Detective Reed androids were just defect machines. Made to torture him. He has survived his own household model and now, after all these years, a new RK model appeared to make his life more terrible.
RK900 has to deal with the horrible human being as a partner, but it seems that not all bad rumors about Reed were true.

"Don't you like flowers, Detective?" Reed paused and glanced at him.

His fingers clawed into the table, while his ankles came out white. In the glass wall, which separated his desk from the passageway, he saw a reflection.
A tall, male figure. A blurred face. Dark hair. Clinical white clothing. The flare-up of the blue android icons.

An expanded look at the events of Detroit: Become Human, from the inception of the RT600, no more than notes scribbled on a Starbucks napkin by an insatiably curious teenage genius, to the unmaking of the RK900 by a tired, downtrodden obsolete PL600 who only knows how to love until there's nothing left of himself.
An exploration of what it means to be a deviant, a son, a detective and an older brother. An unexpected second chance to be a father. Accepting that a person's addiction is not the entire sum of their character and that fatherhood is more than just paying child support.
All these tales, spanning from the inception of androids and carrying further than the Sentient Life Act of the 1st of December 2038; intrinsically, inescapably tethered to one PL600 named Simon.

“Detective Reed.”
With a sigh Gavin slowly spun his chair around to face the tall, oh god he was tall, android that stood next to his desk. He’d heard about this guy around the station. How he looked exactly like Connor but this one had a stick up his ass. Even more so than the original.
“I am RK-900. I believe we have been assigned partners on a case. I would like to discuss the details with you now if you are free.” He spoke with an arrogant air about him which only worked to rile Gavin up more.
Without breaking eye contact Gavin leant back in his chair, stretching to poke his head around the androids large frame.
“FOWLER!”
That was the beginning of Gavin’s partnership with RK-900,
Nines as they now called him.
A partnership that was going as well as one can expect between a man who is known around the department for his hatred of androids, and the shiniest, latest model of android detective Cyberlife had to offer.
robot who, apparently after gaining his freedom, decided sarcasm was ‘fun’ and something he was suddenly fluent in. And if it wasn’t sarcasm then it was that deadpan, arrogant, I’m higher than you tone that never failed to piss Gavin off.

“Am I distracting you Detective?” Nines said, breaking the silence as he met Gavin’s eyes in the reflection of the window.
“If I’d known how difficult it would be for you to stay focused in my presence I would have suggested you have a different partner for this case.” He said calmly as Gavin gaped at him like a fish.
“Wha- You- I-” Gavin stuttered racking his brain for something to say until he saw the androids cheek twitch in the reflection in the window.
The fucker was teasing him.
“You fuc-”

“Gavin!”
Gavin cried out as a sharp pain burned through his leg and began to buckle underneath him. The fucker shot him!
“Nines!” Gavin shouted
The sounds of a scuffle dragged Gavin’s attention away from his leg and he looked up just in time see Nines bring a swift knee into Wallace’s chest with more force than necessary.
His LED, usually a steady calm blue, spilled over the alley covering it in a cautious yellow glow.
“Move your hands detective.” Nines voice didn’t leave room for debate and Gavin was too preoccupied watching the yellow LED spin to say anything back.
Nines tore the bottom of his shirt to make a temporary bandage, kneeling down to be level with the wound. Nines face was blank as usual, the only sign that something was different was the still yellow LED.
“Hey quit poking around down there.” Gavin forced out, trying to hide the pain that laced his voice, “Some of us actual feel pain you know.”
Gavin watched with wide eyes as Nines LED flashed to red once, for just a second, before returning to the yellow.
“My apologies Detective.” Nines spoke low
“What’s going on in here?” Gavin tapped a bloody finger against the glowing LED leaving traces of dark red on pale skin.
Nines didn’t answer. He was just silent, still on one knee in front of Gavin not even looking up at him.

I…came to apologise Detective. I have been…thinking about your injury. I should have taken more precautions when dealing with an unstable suspect. I will do better in the future.” Nines spoke calmly and clearly, only pausing once or twice as he tried to find the words.
"I will admit Detective, when I saw you get hurt it caused me some…distress.” His voice didn’t give away what he was feeling. It remained the same aloof tone it always was. Yet his words still caused a lump to grow in Gavin’s throat. “Distress I am unaccustomed to.”
“Well, I guess it’s just more proof you guys feel things.”

Summary
Scar has frequently imagined how he'd meet Grian again. Grian, the human he'd been designed to be a therapy android for and gone deviant for. Grian, the human who had who had tried to get Scar sent back to the factory under the assumption he was a malfunctioning piece of equipment, leading to Scar fleeing to a small but growing android resistance. He's often imagined this as the climax of his character arc, as the moment he would explain that they could have been friends, that he'd been hurt, that what Grian did was wrong.
He didn't imagine it as them getting into a screaming match in the middle of a grocery store, but hey! Sometimes life does funny things like that.

Summary
Gavin knows he's been an asshole to androids before. And now that he knows Nines has been so worried about it, he's made a promise to himself to be better about it. And if that means talking about feelings and complicated human stuff with an android, that's what he's gonna do. Because he cares about his partner, damnit, and he's not just gonna give that up.
