Gregor the Overlander has moved on. It took him and his family some time, but they have recovered. And now they are even moving to a place of their own. Gregor has become closer to Larry and Angelina. And his thoughts of a place far below his feet have begun to slowly fade into the background. Until he begins receiving messages from them again. Gregor must face his past or turn away from it entirely.
Luxa, meanwhile, has also moved on. Her city is healing and the bond she forged between humans and gnawers has born fruit in the form of newly charted territory far south of the border of their old maps. Summary
Gregor is a (pretty much) normal guy living in New York City, with an office and a coffee machine. His time in the Underland was well in the past, and now he's trying to live a decent life and make some money… among other things. He gets a phone call from his sisters, who are coming to visit him from Virginia.
Things are going well when one night they get an invitation to attend a funeral in Regalia. Gregor finds himself back in the place that he had been healing from for 10 years now. And things are different. Luxa is engaged and is the official ruler of Regalia. There's a peace and understanding between creatures that hasn't been seen for hundreds of years. Things seem okay on the surface, but there's a new creature threatening to topple their hard-won peace. They call them Rippers.
And Gregor is apparently needed. Again.

Yet, even he couldn't help but notice that Ripred was acting a little... different. And that's not a good sign when they are on another one of Sandwiches' perilous prophecies, and no food and a whole lot of exhaustion.
When the rat that they've always relied on collapses in front of their eyes, the team finds out that it's code red for worry.

Taking place 5 years after the last book, Gregor and Boot's go back to the Underlanders to once again save them. Gregor and Luxa are now 17 and Boots is 7. Even after ten years of living a "normal" life, Gregor can't forget about the one he left behind. He decides that he won't be at peace until he gets one last look, just to be sure everything is fine. The Underland is thriving under peace but will Gregor be able to choose between the Underland and Overland? Or can he have both?
This is basically me giving Gregor and Luxa their happy ending because I can't deal with the way it actually ended.
