This time instead of letting the anger take control of him he could tell them what had happened, even if no one would believe Loki Liesmith, they would believe the Chittauri brand on his shoulder blade, the marks of their torture on his skin.
But Loki knew their sympathy would be short-lived, his reasons would sound like excuses for most of Asgard and a lot of the soldiers and the court would still be suspicious of him, their doubt would never be completely cleared, and his par- Odin and Mother wouldn’t understand how broken he is. And he wanted them to know. He wanted them to realise how much he had suffered and feel guilty for not noticing sooner. For Thor to feel guilty, for him to understand how much he caused Loki to suffer.
That required patience and some time spent in prison. Loki did not mind that, he was tired, and prison was comfortable enough, courtesy of his Mother.

He attempted to form a response, something to say that would bore Thor away since now wasn’t the time to plead his case, but for some reason, the words got stuck at the back of his throat—he just kept looking at Thor, gasping slightly. Panic began to claw at him; he did not like this lack of control; he was not given any semblance of control in the sanctuary, his mind was not his, his body was not his, his thoughts, his ego, likes and dislikes, none of them had belonged to him.
And now, after he finally regained some semblance of control, he cannot lose it. His voice was his most prized weapon, it was his to wield as he pleased. The panic surged, his breath quickening as he grappled with the terrifying loss of control.
Thor’s expression hardened. "Loki, why won't you answer me? This isn’t funny. If this is a pretence to leave you free, it will not work."The accusation felt like a blow, even though Loki had expected it. He tried to reply, to retort with a cutting remark, no, he shouldn’t do those anymore for a while, he should - but his voice was failing him. What is he to do now? The panic continued to rise, and he felt the tightness in his chest, the helplessness overwhelming him.

Loki’s mind just snapped. He knew how Thor saw his action, he knew he wouldn’t be believed, he knew he would need to prove to his family who were the closest to him, the ones who were supposed to believe him, trust him. But to hear accusations spat to his face, when he genuinely felt overwhelmed and unable to speak, for his belief to be proven right. It was hurtful.
“Leave." He managed to say, his voice small.
Thor blinked, momentarily taken aback by the weariness and defeat in Loki's voice. He opened his mouth to apologise, to try to reach out, but Loki closed his eyes again, shutting out the world.
“Loki… I-I apologise, I did not mean that... I-I was just worried and, uh… I’m very sorry… ” Thor’s voice was soft, but Loki was done. He is not going to force himself to speak, to give condolences to placate his bro- Thor. He deserved his rest, some amount of peace for a while.

The look on Loki’s face after Thor had hurled accusations at him felt like a physical blow. His frustration and unjustified anger had dissolved in an instant, leaving only guilt. Loki had seemed so small then; his voice tinged with hurt yet resigned as if he had expected nothing less from his brother. And he was right, wasn’t he? Thor had reacted impulsively, letting anger guide his words. The entire purpose of his visit had been to help Loki, to understand what tormented him, and he had utterly failed. He had to admit it—he really was the worst brother.

The second prince had always been a figure of intrigue and controversy. Recently, though, there was only sorrow in watching him.
The guard remembered Loki’s former self—mischievous, charming, and always a step ahead in wit. But now, the prince was a hollow shell, consumed by something far darker. Loki’s green eyes, once alight with cleverness, now seemed vacant and distant.

Tony, Stephen, and Loki go back in time for one more chance - an intentional choice, because they are each other's insurance against repeating the same mistakes. Tony wakes up shortly before the Stark Expo with the reactor's palladium core still poisoning him. Stephen wakes up with undamaged hands and a flourishing medical career. Loki wakes up in Asgard one day before Thor's coronation.

He swallowed, and Gamora wondered if she had ever seen him so vulnerable. Not for a long time, not since he had first come to Sanctuary, before he had been hardened. Just like her and Nebula had been. They had all been forged in the same flames, hadn’t they?
“Please, Sister?”
She looked at him, silent and trying to hide the fidgeting of his hands behind his back, and caught his eye, watching as he held his breath. She recalled what Drax had said: Family. She wanted hers whole.
And then Gamora smiled softly at her brother, and gestured up the gangplank. “Welcome aboard, Loki.”

What if Loki had never been sent to Earth by Thanos? What if he stayed on Sanctuary for years, spending time with Gamora and Nebula and others of the Black order until 2014, when he was sent with the sisters to aid Ronan in his quest? What if, soon after, Loki joined the Guardians of the Galaxy?
I just wanted to write a fic where Loki Nebula and Gamora bond and become siblings, and Loki joins the GotG for wacky space hijinks, okay?

Loki choked suddenly, a single sob barely making it out of his throat. He scrunched his eyes up, and rested his head in his hands. He just wanted it all to be over. He wanted to be free again. He wanted to go home. He wanted to laugh and be happy, and he wanted to apologize to his family – to beg for their forgiveness.
(He had never been one to beg, before Thanos.)

“Boys, boys, you’re both pretty.” Nebula rolled her eyes, completely done with their antics.
For some reason, Drax was the one to grow offended by Nebula’s words, neither of her targets able to form a response.
“No they’re not.” He frowned heavily. “Loki is pretty. Quill is like a soft baby man. A dude.”
Loki blinked, taken aback.
Quill looked like he might just combust on the spot, and, alright, Nebula had to admit that that was rather amusing.
Drax, nodding as if he just answered the greatest question ever added: “Pretty witch man.”
Nebula glanced at Gamora, and raised her eyebrows. Her sister quirked her lip in response. Good, Nebula thought, we’re on the same page.

Peter eyed Thor hesitantly, “What’s with your braid?” Peter asked, “Why do you have the darker strands? Is it dyed?”
Thor shook his head. “No, young one. They were my brother’s. This is the custom to honor the fallen.”
Thor felt everyone around him stiffen, and he barely hid his grimace. He knew, vaguely, that it was an unspoken rule amongst the Avengers not to ask him about his brother. He had been asked about Asgard in general, and his exploits on Midgard over the past centuries, but never about his brother. He suspected it had to do with his… explosive response to Proxima Midnight, all those years before.
“What happened to him?” Peter asked, curious.
“He… took his own life.”
The silence in the room was palpable, and stretched on for several long seconds. He felt eyes staring at him, filled with emotions that he dared not to discern. Thor sighed heavily, knowing that no one would say anything before he would.
“It was years ago, and he felt he had no other way out,” Thor worked his jaw.
“I’m sorry,” Peter said quietly.
“It is not your fault,” Thor answered, “nothing could stop him, not even I.” Not true, a part of himself whispered, you could have done something. If not then, then earlier.

“He would have liked you, I think.” Thor said, eyeing Peter appraisingly.
“Really?” Peter asked.
“Yes,” Thor nodded. “He liked those movies you’re always talking about – the War of Stars?”
Peter choked. “Asgardians know about Star Wars?”
“Just Loki,” Thor said, remembering those times his brother had headed to Midgard to watch the ‘premiers’. They weren’t that long ago, in the grand scheme of things, but they felt leagues away from Thor. “I have never seen them, though Loki certainly tried to get me to.”

It's sad that it's not finished, but its beautiful to read anyways. Seeing the sibling relationship between Loki, Nebula, and Gamora as well as the slice-of-life style comedy with the Guardians of the Galaxy makes it wonderful. I wish we could have seen the inevitable reunion with Thor and Loki, as well as the GotG's reaction.
