Sometimes Ash would re-read that last message from Eiji whenever he had consumed all of his content on tiktok, Instagram, or Twitter. How did they go from being inseparable, from having a deep mutual love for each other to this one-sided parasocial pining? It was beyond ironic that Eiji had sent this message almost with the intention of asking to be in a parasocial relationship, but Ash was the one stuck pining, one-sidedly, for Eiji, halfway across the world, behind a screen. But the prospect of becoming a model and having mutual one-sided pining for each other was one that Ash contemplated frequently.

“I’m sort of asking you to keep fixing me. It’s not fair, it’s gonna be tough work. But you’ve already saved me, so you’re obviously capable. I want to be good for you. I want to want to live, Eiji. I want to get out of here and leave my past behind and live. I don’t know if I even can, but I want to try. If you’ll have me.” Ash took a breath, and watched Eiji’s face for inevitable rejection. For his face to contort as the weight of what Ash asked him hit him. He would tell Ash that he had to take care of himself, that he couldn’t deal with the burden that was Ash.
Instead, Eiji’s round face erupted into a soft smile. He threw himself towards Ash, dark hair blurring as he moved at a track star’s speed towards him. Eiji’s sweater clad arms were wrapped around his neck, his face buried in Ash’s shoulder. Ash usually hesitated when Eiji held him. Even if he was the one to ask for comfort, even if he knew deep in his bones that Eiji was safe.
This time, however, Ash threw his arms equally tightly around Eiji, pulling his body flush against him.

Dead dove: do not eat for trauma, recovery, discussions of abuse etc.
Hoping to make this longer, but so far what I have is a story where Ash survives Lao's attack and he and Eiji begin to build their life together. Essentially, I'm writing beyond the ending because it made me sad and if you wanna read that feel free to! :) it will get intense and as CSA survivor myself I don't intend to parse words about the aftermath of a trauma like that so it might be a lot to read and triggering so a fair warning for that.
I love and welcome any comments or suggestions on the direction of the story, feedback is always welcome!!

They said the blade entered through his sixth and seventh ribs. They said he bled out at a table in the library; that they thought he was asleep until they saw the blood pooling underneath him. That he’d died with a letter clutched in his fist. They said the lynx had finally fallen.
