Alec smirks and lowers himself to kneel in front of her.
“Yeah, and you were so short, I overlooked you completely. Couldn’t figure out where’d the annoying squeaky noise was coming from.”
Clary makes a protesting sound and shoves Alec, who doesn’t move in the slightest, one knee on the floor and leaning onto the other. Even like this, he’s barely at eye-level with her and Clary fidgets with her hands.
“Remember you were scared that no one would like you?” Alec continues. “That my family won’t like you, or Isabelle, for that matter?”
Clary nods, her face slightly twitching with a smile as she remembers.
“Remember what I told you?”
Clary smiles in full now, her eyes coming up to look back at her parabatai. “You told me that there’s nothing we can’t figure out, together.”
