The first time Joseph Seed saw the woman die was in the Misty River gas station near the Henbane river when he watches her get a bullet put between her eyes. Three days later, she’s smiling politely back at him with a pumpkin stashed beneath her arm, not an injury in sight.
Hemlock Potter, on the other hand, just wanted to keep out of trouble as she tackles what it means to be the unintentional Master of Death. Hope County appeared to be an out of the way, nothing-ever-important-happens-here hole she could bury her head in while she sorted out the immortality dilemma. What's the worst that could happen in a place so picturesque?

“Juniper.” She blinked away the starlight from her eyes. “Juniper Potter.” And just for good measure. “Lily’s kid… The one she adopted last time she was here.”
The strobe sign of the bar might have been off, but the woman’s face lit up brighter than it ever could have hoped to. “Shit-“ Mary cursed, finally coming out of the door way, closer across the decking. “Little Faith Seed? That really you?”

Rook laughs, unable to stop the wide smile from spreading across her face. “Nah, you absolutely were,” she says softly, checking to make sure her tits were back inside her tank top.
He snorts, but his lips slightly curve upward. “You go on and have yourself a nice night, darlin’.”
For some reason this makes her cheeks turn pink. A minute ago he was about to enter her and now she’s feeling shy? She can tell there’s a glint of amusement in his eyes as he watches her begin to back away. It’s highly unlikely that she’ll ever see him again, but for some reason she has this tiny suspicion she will. So Rook musters some of that boldness from earlier and speaks her truth.
“I will, and I hope you do too. But you should know…I’m not finished with you just yet.”
The man’s eyes widen just a bit and he lets out a soft chuckle as he flicks the embers from his cigarette. “Well is that so?”
She grins at him, shaking her head affirmatively as she continues backing away.
His lips twitch up in a small smile. “Hmm, perhaps the stars will align.”
3 years later, Rook is shocked to see her redheaded stranger once again...behind Joseph Seed.

Dutch niece, kill self year into first cycle, spend cycles avoiding everyone dying different ways including radiation, universe made her look like Faith Joseph wife, every cycle creates ways she has to interact with Seeds, Joseph meet her in church early morning, mistake her for Faith touch her, violently pull away, pastor suggest she teach project how to can her way, agree to visit next day, lean into her way of obsessing and decide to integrate with Joseph to lessen violence and make project healthier, more docile with him, Joseph obsess and lust over her, pretend to be staying in trailer park when dropped off to avoid them finding Dutch island bunker, three years later Lana and John go to Jacob to plan getting her out of Joseph compound because not faithful and security risk, Lana reveal depth of personality to her they didn’t expect, Jacob hood up dust hair to show less red, sit at bar watch her friendly with cops, uncomfortable with touch, whisper to him to leave before sheriff sees him then makes drunk exit to keep attention, get in car with him tell him she agreed to move to compound when John started looking into Dutch for blackmail, too drunk for conversation, ask him if he will kill her, sudden decision to turn off to his training compound, haul over his shoulder when stagger down stairs, cut off clothes to check for wire then search phone, good photography, project shirt to cover, crying quietly trying not to panic, told he won’t kill her because nothing found on her or phone, hug him cry overwhelmed, tell him she forgives him in advance if he needs to kill her, tell her to value life more, get up from side hug to get food drink, get back to room have to manoeuvre chair away from door, sit in chair watch accidentally fall asleep, wake up watch him in chair before leaving showering charging phone, take photo of him sleeping before call name to wake, reveal knowledge on illegal parts of siblings jobs, take back forgiveness if he needs to kill her, he’s more hurt than he thought he’d be, tell him she couldn’t face dying knowing it would add to his sleepless nights and pain, hold him comfort while he cries, wipe face with shirt, tell her he won’t take this as more than comfort she is young, he doesn’t want to give more to trauma bonding with her, relieved when her laughter isn’t at thought of attraction to him but what Joseph would be angry over, angry cry over having to fake sleep while Joseph pray for strength over lust, agree to story that they met up got talking about wolf science and captive alpha wolf studies, try to get Joseph agree to her helping wolf survey to get away from compound, apologise for adding to her trauma, feel bit of disgust when hugging Joseph.

I’ve been catching heat up North lately. Eli keeps saying I should go take a break down in the valley or on the river. I’ve eliminated one threat at least - it wouldn’t hurt to bask in the glory of a liberated region. After this last mission at the F.A.N.G. Center, I could use something to cool me the fuck off. Jacob has fucked with me plenty for now.

I woke up several days later, covered in blood and gravel-filled wounds. Pratt tried to save me but I think we both knew as he pushed me off the balcony that he’d pay for my sins. If anyone is to pay for my mistakes, I know it has to be me. John is right - I AM the WRATH of Hope County.
