“I am not loitering.” Tobias notes the French accent, cursing because he already has two French co-workers to deal with and he is not getting any more fluent.
Tobias rolls his eyes, calling over his shoulder as he walks into the cafe. “Really? Then what do you call standing outside a closed shop with a death stick in your hand?”
The man follows him inside. At least he put out the cigarette.
“I’m here for the job.”
That has Tobias pausing. He takes off his headphones. The backroom forgotten. The man has stepped around to face him. When Tobias just stares, the other man waves in his face. “‘ello? You in there Top Gun?”
That has Tobias snapping out of it, stepping back because this man apparently has no sense of personal space. "Did you just call me Top Gun?”

He never really was good at that despite the numerous lessons. Jack terribly wants to feel like he's a child again. He can't feel her hand on the back of his head, on his shoulder. His throat swells and he digs his hand in his pocket, pressing the cross into his palm, marking his skin.
I can't feel you with a broken chain and beads in my pocket. Come back, he doesn't say.
