“Hold on.” V said, sitting straighter. “Three days? This really a rescue mission?”

V's journey through Night City takes him from the lowest street corners and highest penthouses, and even out in the badlands, as he hurries to save whatever's left of his mind.
A retelling of the main plot from the video game CYBERPUNK 2077, CYBRPNK:BRAINDANCER is a first-person narrative about a man on the verge of collapse in a world that's melting down.

Summary
Valerie, a small-time merc raised by the streets of Night City, finds herself trapped in the dreary life she had once hoped to escape. Perpetually broke, and with little hope besides keeping the roof over her head, a lucrative job promises much needed salvation - and takes what little she still had. As a prototype chip begins to tear her mind apart, V is rapidly running out of time and options, and sheer desperation forces her deeper and deeper into the sunless abyss of the city's underbelly. When she ends up surrounded by humanity at its lowest, by by fear, hatred and greed, the abyss gazes into her - and the Black Dog rears its head.
This fic puts a unique spin on the main story of Cyberpunk 2077, first and foremost by making V into a proper character and showing her transformation into a legendary solo. The major beats will generally be kept, but I will make changes where they appear meaningful or interesting. Song So Mi will be playing a more significant role in the later chapters; but romance is, for better or for worse, not the main point or focus of the story. I hope you guys will be as invested in this fic as I am - and that I will be able to deliver even just a sliver of that Night City magic!

Like all things in Night City, the pair of mercs learn that nothing is what it seems, and even the most hardened edgerunners are only mere seconds away from being eaten alive.
Canon divergence during the quest "The Pickup". V has already met with Meredith Stout and been given the spiked credit chip. But she never expects the Spanish Inquisition... or that the Maelstrom are already tracking her every move through Northside.
