We met Charles in the thick of winter in ‘98, up in the western foothills of the Grizzlies. Unlike many of us other folk, myself included, he didn’t appear in some grand sort of way. It was just that. Just one day he was there in the early morning, speaking with Dutch, about nothing that concerned me. It was one of those mornings where everything was quiet and unmoving, the rising sun making the grounded snow blinding and biting, yet making Charles glow. Now that I think of it, he reminds me of Boadicea’s coat. Easy to look at, I think is the best way to describe it. Very easy, as the rising sun set his skin ablaze in lovely, fiery embers.
An enigma, that man.

(This is an on going work)
This is the story of how Josiah Trelawny joined the Dutch Vanderlinde Gang and his long and passionate relationship with Arthur Morgan. I based this off of how I and many others feel there is a lot of secret queer communication in the game, especially from characters like Josiah Trelawny. A lot of things from his dialogue is left in mystery. Stuff which Arthur always seems to understand. So what if some of Arthur and Josiah’s interactions in the game play were coded talk referring to more private moments. A long building love story unfolds.
This story will eventually run past Ch. 6 of the game itself. High Honor. -

The lights hit Charles’ skin perfectly, showing off the harsh features on his face and the muscles on his forearms. His hair looked like silk flowing behind him in the gentle breeze. Arthur looked up at him in awe, a smile tugging on the corners of his lips.
“Beautiful, isn’t it?” Arthur mumbled, tipping his head down to hide his expression. Charles hummed softly, and Arthur felt his warmth next to him as Charles sat next to him. It hadn’t been long since Charles joined, but they’ve never had time to talk or really get to know each other. The man was friendly with everyone else, which frustrated Arthur.~
Arthur struggle's with his past and present, navigating life with a closed off and reserved heart. One lonely night, someone comes into his life that didn't give him much of an option but to open up - helping him through internal struggles he never knew he had bottled up.

Arthur remembers his Pa used to keep a small purple box in his tent always out of reach. It intrigued him. But he could never reach for it. Whenever it was out of his sight, it was out of his mind. And whenever he caught it glimpse of it, it was always right by his sleeping Pa’s hand, like treasure hidden in the lion’s den.
He had asked about it, once.
“Can’t tell you, boy,” His Pa had said dismissively, looking down at him with hollow blue eyes, “Folks… they don’t like people like us.”
Then his Pa had been hung, and the box was the last thing Arthur thought about for a long time. The only time the thought did pop up was to wonder if he had a lot of money, and if so, where he could find it, so he could have more food to at least live til next week.
