Kaveh moves out in the middle of the night after having another fight with Alhaitham, which sparks a rumor that the two of them had broken up. Thinking that Alhaitham had started the rumor, Kaveh begins avoiding Alhaitham. Without him around, Alhaitham starts spiraling out of control as he realizes how alone he really is. It's an empty, rain-slickened night when Alhaitham first unlocks his phone, the light of the screen harsh against the shadows of his room. Kaveh's voice haunts him—an echo trapped within the confining walls of his skull, replaying their last conversation, their laughter, their momentary lapse. It's been three days since the accident, three days since… The guilt was eating him alive.
Kaveh is dead, and Alhaitham blames himself. This is solely following Alhaitham's deteriorating mind as he "deals" with the grief and guilt.

In an attempt to fill the insatiable pit of loneliness, Kaveh seeks comfort in the presence of strangers he meets at the tavern, only for his thoughts to wander back to his ex-roommate again and again. As soon as Kaveh realizes the true feelings behind his thoughts, Alhaitham suddenly disappears.

Summary
If you were to ask someone: “Could the acting Grand Sage, Alhaitham, be depressed?” all you would get as an answer is a huff.
“That guy? Depressed? Since when can an ice cube be depressed? He doesn’t have any feelings. How would that even work?”
Alhaitham has maintained the image of a cold and rational being so carefully that it was almost impossible to look behind the mask and see the truth. Only he knew that he was barely holding on.___
"You can't survive on books alone", Kaveh always told him. Alhaitham finally understands the meaning of these words, but it is already too late. His loneliness has carved his insides out and left him hollow. The severity of his depression goes unnoticed by everyone, including the scribe until it is too late to recover. Kaveh will be proven right once more. Alhaitham won't survive this.

On the surface, Alhaitham is not the kind of person people would think to enjoy art. He seems logical, and rational. Though his Darshan is arguably more humanistic than others, he still enjoys the logic of it all.
Yet, he goes to many museums and lets Kaveh frame his work on their walls. Walls, which Alhaitham sometimes paints on. Strokes of colour; lines which sometimes run rough; paint that drips from the excess.
It’s cathartic.
