Not even the endless bodies dropped at his feet as he worked his way through the ranks brought him retribution. More blood spilled than drinks poured at his tavern and it barely even got him close to those responsible for Crepus' death.
But the fatui had gotten close to him. Too close.
Enough to break his spirit yet again and leave him riddled with scars worse than ever before.He'd given up. There was only the suffering of those memories and revenge was futile.
So what does he do when a harbinger walks into his bar and stokes the flames of that rage once more?

When Venti turned back to his drinking partner, he found that Kaeya’s eyes were already on him. “See something you like?” He asked.
Smiling cheekily and taking the opportunity Kaeya all but dropped into his lap, Venti said; “Your brother.”
Kaeya rolled his eyes. “You know, I can never tell when you’re being serious.”
“Why wouldn’t I be?” Venti continued, hoping to get on the knight’s nerves. “I mean, he’s got a big sword, he kills things, he’s pretty. I mean, he’s your brother. You must already know that he's pretty.”
“That’s… not how I’d put it.”
“That he’s not pretty or that he’s not your brother?”
Aka Venti and Kaeya are drinking together and when Venti has the opportunity to fuck with him he takes it and runs multiple times.

Kaeya walked into the Dawn Winery, predicting Adelinde coming up and bowing, being all polite before telling him, “The young master is upstairs in the master bedroom.” And he would hop up the stairs, skipping a step each time, before walking down the hall. Everytime he paused in front of the door, taking a deep breath. Then he would open the door to see Diluc.

"I know that it’s close, and those- those Fatui- fucks could know that! They- They could take you! If you're across country lines, unless we know for sure, we can't search their bases or risk any of our men going undercover!” Kaeya snapped and stuttered like he did when he was nervous or scared. Diluc frowned slightly, going around the counter and sitting next to him.
A sigh left him, and he looked at him, "Even if I do get kidnapped, I'll make it back, one way or another, for your birthday. I've missed it for the past… what? 2 years since I've been back? I need to be here to celebrate it." Diluc said, nudging his arm with his elbow. "We can go to Starsnatch Cliff and paint. Like how Father did for your birthday one year."
Cj 11 Let's leave him be for now. I'll— I'll talk to him in a bit," Kaeya said before walking out and going to his room. Kaeya released a breath he didn't know he was holding, running his hand through his hair. He knew he had to check in on his brother but didn't want to. He needed a break. Instead, he went into his room and shut the door behind him, sitting against it. His knees were pulled up to his chest, and he refused to get up again. Guilt ate away at him, and he wanted to cry as he realized he wasn't scared for Diluc.
He was scared of him.

Day 1 - panic attack---
Adelinde was leaving.
Not forever, no. Just for a week or two. She decided to visit her older sister, who had moved to Fontaine when she was younger and who she had just now reconnected with again after years of no contact. Elzer would be gone on a business trip to Liyue at the same time.
That meant Diluc would be alone in the Winery for the first time since returning home, which worried her immensely.

It all started after Diluc had gotten hit in the head with a Hydro attack from an Abyss Lector. The next morning, his head was killing him, so he thought he possibly had a concussion, but then something weird happened.
"Diluc, can you come here for a moment?" Adelinde called, and he hummed, walking out of his room.
"Yes, Addie? Did you need need something?" Diluc said, looking over the railing. Adelinde walked out of the kitchen and looked up at him.
"I didn't say anything, Master Diluc," She said before returning to the kitchen. Diluc narrowed his eyes before stepping back into his room.
Strange.
