Summary
The fire engine accident – and the viral footage of his rescue – made him an overnight hero, LA’s favorite firefighter with golden curls and dimples to die for. While Buck’s benched from active duty, the department’s PR team has a brilliant idea: let him host a feel-good radio show about “resilience, healing, and community.”
With nothing better to do, Buck becomes LA’s own personal Frasier.
The only difference? He’s terrible at it. Which somehow makes people love him more.
Then the calls start coming in. One voice in particular — warm, steady, and oddly familiar.
“Hi, uh, first-time caller, long-time listener. I could use some advice on… asking someone out.”
Buck laughs, gives his usual awkward pep talk, and moves on. Except “Eduardo from Los Angeles” keeps calling back. Each question gets a little more personal, a little more specific — about a friend who talks too much, loves too hard, and is completely oblivious to all of the advances he’s been making.
Everyone else figures it out long before Buck does.

He glances at Eddie, who’s still turning that medallion between his fingers. Eddie looks up, unease and uncertainty lingering in the warm brown of his eyes. They don’t need words to know exactly what the other is thinking. “You really think it won’t be that bad?”
Buck hesitates for a second. “I think we’ll be ready for whatever it throws at us. That’s what matters, right?”
Ravi walks over, holding a steaming mug of what Buck presumes is coffee. “To being ready.”
Hen rolls her eyes, but clinks her water bottle lightly against his. “To Buck’s natural disaster trivia hour.”

Eddie pauses his movements and turns to face Hen, trying to scrub the guilty look off of his face. “No. No, why would you think that?”
Hen snorts, raising an eyebrow at him as she waits for him to explain himself. It was obvious to her what was going on but, maybe he needs more time to realize it.

“Soup,” Bobby says softly, gesturing to the bowl.
“Thanks,” Buck says, bringing the bowl to his lap, before slowly taking a sip from his spoon. “Mm, ‘s good,” he says, taking another spoon, and Bobby smiles, heart warming over providing for his kid.
“Good,” Bobby says, pressing his hand against his forehead again just to make sure his fever hasn’t worsened. “You’re man behind if we get any calls okay?”
Buck just nods, which proves that he must not be feeling very good at all. Bobby has half a mind to send him home, but not only will Buck hate that, he kind of likes having him close enough to check in on him.
“I’ll be right back,” he says, leaving Buck to finish eating the soup.

If there's one thing you could say about Evan Buckley, it was that he was smart. Maybe not streetsmart, he'd ran into far too many burning buildings blind for that to be true, but certaintly booksmart. If there was ever a fact to know, Buck knew it.
Buck is so smart he sends people running in fear when he enters quizzes, like the one at the bar he and his colleagues are four-time champions of. Not that he's gloating, of course... okay, maybe a little, which is maybe why his boyfriend sees it fit to remind him of what a stupid, obedient little puppy he can be.

“Probably not,” Buck agrees.
He’ll notice later when he’s doing his and Eddie’s budget spreadsheet that there’s a new charge at a sticker store, and he’ll smile to himself as he counts how lucky he is to have someone who listens to all his stories and hears all the things he doesn’t ask for out loud.

Based on the following prompt: Buck read something about how most men receive flowers for the first time at their funeral and he insists that Eddie will not be part of this group. he mentioned this fact to Eddie and Eddie insists in his mind that buck will not be part of this groups. They keep sending each other flowers intent on one upping each other. Buck who cares about the language of flowers is very confused about the mixed messages that Eddie keeps sending him.
