Krone walked through the white, swirling mist, dragging his offering behind him. He could hear voices whispering all around him, though their words eluted him. The woman’s corpse was cooling rapidly, her wrist stiffening in his grip.
With no clear direction to go he paused. “I am Krone! Lord Marshal of the Necromongers. I come to serve.”
The mist stilled and the whispers fell silent. A long moment passed with nothing happening, then he felt movement in his hand. He let go of the corpse’s wrist and jumped back.
A tendril of mist forced its way into the corpse’s nose and it began twitching. Its stiff joints cracked and popped as it rolled over on its back and sat up to face him. Milky eyes looked up at him and its purpling lips twisted into an attempt of a smile.“What happened to Lord Marshal Zhylaw?” The voice that came out of the dead throat was surprisingly clear, almost soothing.
Note: This picks up right after the events of part 1. It might be confusing as a standalone.
