    The Forgotten Ones weren't always... well, forgotten. The stories were likely partially true, the tales of cruelty and hiding in the darkness. They were everything they shouldn't have been - those who caused terror, pain, despair. The woman the world would eventually know as Inquisitor Lavellan was, in fact, a Forgotten One. Somehow Isathe was not imprisoned by the Dread Wolf in the abyss with the rest of them. Whatever the reason, the former spirit of Curiosity coaxed into physical form was stuck in the aftermath of that event. She felt the moment the Veil was created and pulled her even farther from her home. Then she slept. Slept for thousands of years until she woke in a world where elves were no longer what they had been. She had to find a way to stay alive and adjust to the world that formed from the Betrayal so long ago.

    Isathe was an ancient elf, a member of the Forgotten Ones and awakened years before the Breach before being pulled into the Inquisition. Hiding herself from the prying eyes of those who would condemn her for her past, the wolf that haunts her dreams and the unsettling gaze of the apostate elf who appeared to know more than he let on.

He grows up as the son of a washerwoman, a servant of Mythal the All-Mother, and knows no life but the life of the incarnated. Until his brother is kidnapped by Andruil, on the hunt for fresh blood to feed her Champion's vile experiments. Solas attempts to petition Mythal for his brother's release, but is offered an alternative instead: work for the Mother of the Evanuris, rise through the ranks, and gain enough power to free his brother himself. But unknown to him, and to the other Evanuris, history is being nudged (or perhaps shoved), and Solas will soon find himself in the position to change the course of Elvhenan forever.

    Note as of 31/10/2024: This fic does not follow Veilguard’s established backstory for Solas, as it was drafted and outlined (but not written) much earlier than the game’s release.

Solas can either submit to the rule of the gods or walk the path of rebellion to save the ones he loves.

    Sorta a love story, sorta a comedy, sorta a story about political intrigue--but hey, Solas said Arlathan was even worse than Orlais!

Most assume that these are isolated incidents, unaware that a rebellion is brewing in the hidden corners of Elvhenan. Fen’Harel has tried to make the gods see the error of their ways, but he is getting tired of playing politics. He wants to bring change to their empire – and if he must build an army of freed slaves and begin a full-scale revolution in order to achieve it, then so be it. This story opens on the early days of the Dread Wolf’s rebellion and ends shortly after the Great Betrayal. It contains deceptions, manipulations, political maneuvering, spies, murder and treason. Features the full-cast of the Elvhen pantheon including some of the Forgotten Ones. Tries to explore what exactly pushed Fen’Harel so far that he came to the conclusion that the world would be better off if all of the gods were banished.
