Lili flinched at the unexpected voice before laughing. Her brother settled down on the stone next to her, bumping their shoulders together. It was a tight fit, and hardly comfortable, but she’d never begrudge her baby brother anything.
“Wasn’t the smartest decision I’ve ever made,” she admitted, bumping him back. “Still a better hiding place than a pond.”
Scorpio, as maturely as the second-in-line for the throne should behave, stuck his tongue out at her.
“I was completely covered!”
“Yeah, in clear water. I could see you from the second I opened up my eyes.”
“And yet, for some reason that was the longest I’ve remained hidden. By a lot.”
