“I’m sick of watching you make sad puppy dog eyes at Luffy all the time. It’s even worse now than it was two years ago!”
Zoro was pretty sure she was exaggerating, and yet he found his gaze being drawn towards Luffy as he was running around playing tag with Chopper and Usopp. Nami clocked the back of his head.
“I don’t make sad puppy eyes,” he grumbled.
Nami rolled her eyes. “You need to do something about that, or we’ll both go crazy.”
Zoro groaned. “The hell do you expect to do? Say, Oh captain, please order me around and punish me when I’m bad?” He said in a purposely exaggerated voice to be sure Nami would know he was being sarcastic.
She shrugged. “Being direct is usually the best thing with Luffy.”
Zoro’s cheeks burned red. “I am not saying that to him.”
Nami crossed her arms. “Uh, fine. I guess we’ll need to go with plan B then.”
“Plan B?” Zoro raised an eyebrow, setting down his now empty bottle of saké.
“Every time I catch you moping, I raise your debt.”
“What!” He was so shocked and dismayed that he forgot to deny the moping.
She raised her eyebrows at him.
Zoro sighed. “Fine, I’ll talk to him.”

“Tell me what you’re thinking.” His voice was low and commanding in a way Zoro didn’t hear often.“Yes, captain,” he said quickly, but he couldn’t remember what he was supposed to say after that. His mind had gone totally blank at Luffy’s tone.
When he didn’t continue, Luffy frowned. “Zoro, come on,” he chided, lightly patting Zoro’s cheek.
Zoro opened and closed his mouth a couple of times before saying, “You still mad about the octopus?” When Luffy’s face scrunched up in confusion, he said, “Because I cut up its arm.”
“Oh yeah, I forgot about that. Nope! Not mad! Why?”
Zoro shifted awkwardly. He was starting to wish he’d asked Nami for advice on what to say, but knowing the witch, that probably would have cost him.
“Do you want me to be mad?” Luffy asked with that all-knowing intensity in his eyes he got whenever he knew he was close to the truth.
Zoro closed his eye. “I dunno, I just, I guess I liked that voice you had when you were mad, and just now when you told me to tell you what I was thinking.“
When Zoro opened his eye, Luffy’s expression had twisted into that grin he usually reserved for right before a battle. “I get it. Zoro wants to do something fun.”

Once inside he closed the door behind them, surprisingly remembering to lock it, and turned to look at Zoro, who was standing awkwardly in the middle of the room, scuffing his foot against the carpet.Luffy strode over, cupped Zoro’s face in his hands, and said, “You have to tell me what you want, Zoro.”
Zoro blushed, “I want you to be mean.”
“We were apart for two years, and when we finally get a chance to be together, you want me to be mean.” He sounded amused. “Okay, but you gotta tell me if you don’t like it.”
Zoro nodded.
“Alright then,” he grinned, “get on your knees for me.”
Zoro dropped to the ground immediately, the carpeted floor cushioning his fall somewhat. He could feel that fuzzy feeling on the edge of his mind, making him want to forget about everything except for this moment right here, right now.
Luffy giggled, “You’re always so good for me. It seems so silly that you want me to be mean, but I gotta admit it’s a fun idea.”

and despite ordinarily being a terrible actor, he managed to pull off the perfect kingly sneer, just for Zoro. It made Zoro shiver.
