A twist on E.T.A. Hoffman's story, "Clara and the Mouse King" follows Clara's entry into adulthood, where she yearns for the magic of that special encounter on Christmas eve. Though she recognizes the spirit of her precious nutcracker in her Godfather's nephew, Hans, he does not seem to reciprocate her fond feelings. But when a surprise guest makes an ominous appearance at the Stahlbaum's celebration, more elements from that magical night begin to appear in her life, especially the Mr. Mausbach, who holds a strong disdain for her nutcracker, but somehow always crosses her path.
A Victorian-era love story for the Christmas season with drama, scandals, and of course love triangles! Enjoy.

"Yeah sure, I'll believe that when I see it," he snipped, fiddling with the controls in front of him.
"You know what? Fine. I'll prove to all of you idiots that your commander can dance. We still have a couple hours before we need to be under way, tell everyone to assemble in the cargo bay in fifteen." With that, she turned and headed for the stairs, paying no mind to a very nonplussed Joker staring at her back.

Woody carries a low, easy swagger as he strides forward, arms crossed as all the rest of his toys follow after him, one-by-one, forming a wall where he’s stopped. Their tin voices, beeps, and whirs fill the void, and Andy swears that he hears the rise of brass and percussion somewhere beyond all of them, a light thump with each of their steps forward. It reminds Andy of a ballet that Mom had taken him to see, where an older cousin of his played the king of rats, opposite a nutcracker prince. Arms raised and legs outstretched, their movements more closely resembled a dance than a soldier's march.
It’s for that reason that his fear leaves him, and he goes slack-jawed from the sheer awe of their back and forth. He calls out each of their names louder and louder — Rex and Slinky and Mike and Lenny and so on — a giddiness rising in his stomach, knowing that they understood him — that they’d understood him this entire time.
Or: A whole bunch of Toy Story backstory, delivered Nutcracker style.

Sandy blond hair, combed to perfection, and a perfectly sculptured face that captures the look of a Greek god. Not to mention his lean build, presumably from the years of dance training.
A small sigh escapes George’s lips, and he doesn’t think that he could have fallen for someone any faster. That is until the god of a man speaks up with a smug tone. “Will there be multiple auditions for people who meet your expectations or is it just this one?”
“Okay, buddy…” George grumbles almost silently to himself. “All big talk, huh.”
Or, George joins a new ballet company and auditions for a role in The Nutcracker, only to meet Dream, a seemingly stuck-up brat. At least, that's what George sees him as. That is, until they get to know each other just a little bit more.

Kaoru was many things. His parents saw to a busy, 'well rounded' schedule. But one of the few things he would actually admit to having some kind of love for in all of his many activities, was dance.
He was a dancer.
He expressed an interest in dance when he was very young, and instead of the modern dance classes he'd hoped for he was enrolled in classical. Ballet to be specific. And to absolutely no one's surprise, he was good at it! Very good at it. Whereas some of his other activities took a while and practice to become passable in, he took to dancing like a swan to water.
Or: Kaoru actually gets what he wants for Christmas this year. He gets loved on.
