With Jason and Damian being suddenly kidnapped by the Guys in White, they become unwilling experiments. As the situation starts to unwravel, things spin out of control. In the knowledge that no one would be coming for them, it makes them more hopeless.
Team Phatom left behind in amity, and Danny and Tim being emplored to save his siblings, despite Tim's reluctance to see them again after what they had done.
While Dick, a broken shell of his former self, depressed and broken, realizes what he has done, believing he is the reason Tim is dead.

“Kid’s got inside information on the Maroni family,” Grayson says when Jason doesn’t say anything.
Jason takes a deep breath and looks down at the table, hands fidgeting in front of him. No one handcuffed him, but he figures no one can accuse him of pulling any shady shit if he keeps his hands visible. There’s a scab on the back of his left hand that hasn’t quite healed yet, and hangnails on almost every fingernail.
“I don’t- look, as far as I know, half the cops in the city are dirty, okay, and I know for a fact there’s a handful that get paid off by Maroni, so I- I really need to keep everything under wraps, alright?” Jason says, trying to sound assertive and not nervous. “So, uh, thank you, I guess. For agreeing to talk to me.”
Gordon nods at him, leaning back in his seat expectantly.

After the Outlaws have an encounter that goes terribly wrong, Jason is left reeling with the loss of a few things he hadn't thought about ever being without. Roy and Kory do their best to help Jason with the aftermath, but they have lives of their own to get back to.
Jason finds himself returning to Gotham after a year away without knowing what to do with himself or his future, and his downward spiral eventually leads to his journey of recovery and reintegration.
