Jack watches from the outskirts of the makeshift dance floor for a while, craning his neck to watch David; he’s right next to the staircase, so his view of David is sometimes blocked by drunk couples trying to find an empty space to get busy, but for the most part, Jack has his eyes on his boyfriend. He’s not trying to be overprotective, or trying to be a creep. He wants David to have fun, and so far, David looks like that’s what he’s doing– his hands are in the air and he’s been integrated into this little group of people Jack recognizes from David’s study group– so Jack knows that his boyfriend is in good hands.
But David doesn’t drink. And Jack knows there might be a reason why.

“Hi,” David breathes, his hands clenching at his side.
Jack blinks. Hesitates, then raises his hand to wave. “...Hey.”

It was supposed to be a one night stand. One night, one too many drinks, one stupid decision that wouldn't have an actual effect on anything David cared about, aside from giving him a much needed night off.
But, when his one night stand turns out to be a new every day part of his life for the foreseeable future, David has... some choices to make.For starters: choose to ignore his obvious attraction to the muralist working in his library, or choose to face the challenge head on.
If only he knew how to navigate this plot twist.
