Summary
Five months ago Jack Kelly lost both of his parents in a car accident. Not wanting him to end up in a home, Jack gains custody of his fifteen-year-old brother Racetrack and moves him into his studio apartment in the heart of Manhattan. Where Jack learns to adapt to these unpredictable circumstances, Race doesn’t handle them with as much grace and gives Jack a hard time every chance he gets. Little does Jack expect that the breath of fresh air he needs would come from falling in love with Race’s English teacher David.

Summary
Jack was no stranger to being beaten by cops and their off-the-clock buddies, but it got worse after the strike. They knew Jack’s face and Snyder seemed to have plenty of friends outside jail.
They knew Crutchie’s face, was the current predicament, and Crutchie required damn near 24-hour protection from the enforcer-type newsies at this point. Jack could defend himself, and for what it was worth, C could absolutely hold his own in a fight. But against multiple cops? Not even Mush stood a chance of making it out without help.
Jack was the newsie whose drawings shut down the refuge. Crutchie was the kid who everyone seemed hellbent on saving. They were targets #1 and #2.
They were selling in the snow, shouting headlines about killer storms and human-eating squirrels when all down the block they heard an ear-splitting whistle, followed by Albert yelling, “Jack, Mush! Get over here, it’s C!”

Three minutes pass, maybe five— David’s right wrist is barren from his usual watch, accidentally leaving it back in Chicago over winter break, so he’s not sure how much time escapes him— but Mysterious Boy finally looks up and sees him staring. David blinks dumbly. Removes the eraser from between his front teeth and sets the pencil down.
Mysterious Boy smiles and winks, and David’s cheeks heat up.

Jack has all the freedom and none of the security. And Davey is jealous.
Learning to throw a punch won’t fix this. Becoming a writer won’t fix this. This is Davey’s, his whole life. Familial expectations, familial duties. Jack doesn’t change a thing.
So, Davey packs it away. Boxes it up tight, ships it to the North Pole, and lets it go. He tries to enjoy this, his friend over for dinner, everyone happy and smiling. He succeeds, he thinks.

Summary
Everyone loves Meet-Cutes, but what about Meet-Uglies? Jack Kelly and David Jacobs meet for the very first time when they get in a car accident. They're both okay, but their cars are... not. It creates some problems.
Perspectives of both Jack and David, navigating a very unfortunate and complicated situation.
Jack feels super guilty, and bends over backwards trying to fix his mistake. But tying up loose ends so he never has to see this guy again... is not exactly the first thing on his mind.
David initially does not like this Jack fella, who nearly turns his life upside down when he accidentally wrecks their cars with his distracted driving. But once he gets to know him, Jack Kelly turns his life upside down in a totally different way.(Previously called "Javid Meet-Ugly" but that is now the series name)

David Jacobs was fifteen years old and a high school sophomore when he first saw him. Grown out dark hair sticking out from underneath his flat cap, calling out a headline about a dead body found in the Hudson River, slightly damp in the late August heat. His voice was melodic over the hustle of Lower Manhattan, hawking the newspaper with practiced skill.
It wasn’t the first time he’d seen a newsboy, but it was the first time one stopped him in his tracks since he moved to the city.

(title is from The Amores by Ovid, means "And my name will always be linked to yours.")
The hours they spent working had gotten better since the strike, sure, but it felt like Jack's workload had quadrupled. Even Sundays, when they didn’t have a new edition to sell in the evening. On the other hand, they had almost their whole days free. And if they played their cards right, they could sell a lot less on Sundays.
It was nice. The previous Sunday, they’d collectively decided to deep clean the lodge for once. For the first time in…Jack didn’t want to think about it actually. The one before that, the older newsies had learned how to give each other small tattoos.
This Sunday, Jack and David had found themselves laying out on the fire escape, David’s arms wrapped around Jack securely. Looking out over some of the nearby buildings, just enjoying what might be the last weekend of not needing coats while working.

Summary
Jack drops Morris’s hat at some point, and continues running, bringing himself through newsies square, right past the Horace Greeley statue. He can’t hear the Delanceys behind him anymore, and turns to check how far behind they are. He can’t see them past the crowd of newsboys watching him. As he’s turning back around to look where he’s going, Jack slams into someone -- a boy, looking to be around his age, maybe a year younger. The boy is wearing a blue striped button-up shirt under a brown vest, brown pants, and a matching brown newsboy cap. His hair sticks out from underneath just enough that Jack can see that it’s curly, and his eyes, when Jack finally looks at them, are strikingly blue.
The boy Jack’d run into stares at him, rightfully annoyed. “What do you think you’re doing?” There’s some shouting of Jack’s name behind the boy, and when Jack looks, he sees the Delanceys trying to push through the crowd of newsies, who’re trying to keep them back. He looks back at the boy, and smiles easily.

The first time David sees her, it’s the 1st of January. Poetic, really, looking back - a time for new beginnings and all that - but that’s skipping too far ahead.
There he was, hair a mess, raging headache from the fireworks the night before, mouth tasting of breath-mints-because-he-didn't-have-time-to-brush-his-teeth. He was never pulling another all nighter as long as he lived - a New Years resolution, if you like (broken, of course, in a matter of weeks - the kind of person who misses his closest friends’ new years party to study for an exam his asshole proffessor set for the second of fucking January is not one who gives up the all-nighter habit easily). But, in short, he looked like a mess, and when she walked in, she looked gorgeous.

Summary
Sarah Jacobs is in love with Jack Kelly. She knows (though she shouldn't) that her brother David is also in love with Jack. Katherine and David love each other, too, in their own way. With Katherine's help, Sarah is going to make sure everyone gets to be happy.
In other news, Jack and David uncover a conspiracy against the railroad unions, Katherine finds a new story in a familiar location, and Sarah finds herself drawn into the work of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union.
(Or, the fic in which the author has historical notes at the end, and tries her best to explain the complexities of marriages and same-sex relationships in the 1900s - while also letting her characters push the boundaries of said relationships.)
