Summary
Jack Kelly, Racetrack Higgins, Spot Conlon, and Katherine Plumber are tasked with working on an astrophysics research project at Caltech. There is still one spot on the team to be filled, and it's Jack's choice. Jack scours the internet for a boy he met years ago at an astronomy convention, and learns that he's a scholar at MIT studying astrophysics. Across the country. He boldly invites David Jacobs to join them for the project, and he agrees. How can they maintain a professional relationship, while still preserving their love for each other?

Summary
“I—I’m David. David Jacobs.” A truth, but not one a novice would admit willingly. “Shit, I’ve already fucked this up. First day in the mob I didn’t know my father was a part of and I’m already bad at it.”
It's 1924, and David Jacobs is late.Series

Summary
David Jacobs was fifteen years old and a high school sophomore when he first saw him. Grown out dark hair sticking out from underneath his flat cap, calling out a headline about a dead body found in the Hudson River, slightly damp in the late August heat. His voice was melodic over the hustle of Lower Manhattan, hawking the newspaper with practiced skill.
It wasn’t the first time he’d seen a newsboy, but it was the first time one stopped him in his tracks since he moved to the city.

Summary
Jack Kelly was afraid of a lot of things.
He was afraid that winter would come early, sending a chill through the lodge that would spread illness and hunger. He was afraid he and Racetrack wouldn’t be able to get enough gloves and hats and scarves and boots to keep the boys warm. He was afraid he would never get away to Santa Fe and its vast, open spaces. He was afraid of the Spider. And the Refuge. And how it would break his boys if they were taken. How it was probably breaking Crutchie now.
He was afraid he would break, if the blows didn’t stop soon.
Maybe that’s why he took the deal.
In which Davey learns why Jack took Pulitzer's deal, and what he had to endure in the meantime.

Summary
Jack needs new boots. This is what he thinks as a puddle of water seeps out of them with each step into the Bronx lodging house. He bought these ones two years ago and now they just barely fit his feet. He must have had one last growth spurt in the past years since he saved up to buy them.
Considering how rough this past winter was, they had definitely withered more. The steel toe cap lifted up from the sole every time he took a step.
or
Jack Kelly devotes so much time taking care of the other newsies, he forgets to take care of himself; his stubbornness leads him to an alley were some angry Bronx newsies jump him.

Summary
Jack drops Morris’s hat at some point, and continues running, bringing himself through newsies square, right past the Horace Greeley statue. He can’t hear the Delanceys behind him anymore, and turns to check how far behind they are. He can’t see them past the crowd of newsboys watching him. As he’s turning back around to look where he’s going, Jack slams into someone -- a boy, looking to be around his age, maybe a year younger. The boy is wearing a blue striped button-up shirt under a brown vest, brown pants, and a matching brown newsboy cap. His hair sticks out from underneath just enough that Jack can see that it’s curly, and his eyes, when Jack finally looks at them, are strikingly blue.
The boy Jack’d run into stares at him, rightfully annoyed. “What do you think you’re doing?” There’s some shouting of Jack’s name behind the boy, and when Jack looks, he sees the Delanceys trying to push through the crowd of newsies, who’re trying to keep them back. He looks back at the boy, and smiles easily.
“Runnin’!”~~~~~~~~~~
My attempt at a 1992 Newsies rewrite. The main plot is the same.

Summary
(title is from The Amores by Ovid, means "And my name will always be linked to yours.")
The hours they spent working had gotten better since the strike, sure, but it felt like Jack's workload had quadrupled. Even Sundays, when they didn’t have a new edition to sell in the evening. On the other hand, they had almost their whole days free. And if they played their cards right, they could sell a lot less on Sundays.
It was nice. The previous Sunday, they’d collectively decided to deep clean the lodge for once. For the first time in…Jack didn’t want to think about it actually. The one before that, the older newsies had learned how to give each other small tattoos.
This Sunday, Jack and David had found themselves laying out on the fire escape, David’s arms wrapped around Jack securely. Looking out over some of the nearby buildings, just enjoying what might be the last weekend of not needing coats while working.

Summary
The thought slapped him across the face, totally out of nowhere. Jack wasn’t really doing anything special— he was just reclined in David’s bed with his dinner on his lap, and he had a few chip crumbs on his thighs. He didn’t look any prettier than usual. He was just being Jack, staring off at the posters on the adjacent wall, probably thinking about the color composition or some artsy thing like that.
And David was in love with him.
With Jack. David was in love with Jack Kelly, and maybe he’d been in love with Jack Kelly for years and was just now realizing it, because of a stupid plate of quesadillas and the stupid way Jack said ‘made sure it was kosher, too’ because Jack cared about him and remembered the little things and holy shit, David was so fucking in love.

Summary
Jack has taken everything from him.
The sea rages around them, but for the first time this evening Jack looks at him. Not the mess of a crowd that grumbles and storms away, not the failed collection of their most important allies, not the money in his hand or a horribly disappointed Medda Larkin. Jack looks at David and for just a moment David sees regret on his face. Or maybe he just wants to see that, he can’t say anymore.
It’s at that moment that Jack feels his heart break.
-OR: A confession between two strike leaders succeeding the betrayal of Jack's show at the rally. (What should have happened before Once And For All.) David forgave Jack way too quick and was way too happy when printing the papers, so this is what should have happened between them!

Summary
Jack was no stranger to being beaten by cops and their off-the-clock buddies, but it got worse after the strike. They knew Jack’s face and Snyder seemed to have plenty of friends outside jail.
They knew Crutchie’s face, was the current predicament, and Crutchie required damn near 24-hour protection from the enforcer-type newsies at this point. Jack could defend himself, and for what it was worth, C could absolutely hold his own in a fight. But against multiple cops? Not even Mush stood a chance of making it out without help.
Jack was the newsie whose drawings shut down the refuge. Crutchie was the kid who everyone seemed hellbent on saving. They were targets #1 and #2.
They were selling in the snow, shouting headlines about killer storms and human-eating squirrels when all down the block they heard an ear-splitting whistle, followed by Albert yelling, “Jack, Mush! Get over here, it’s C!”
