Being a soldier was the next best thing she could find for herself at the space school until she agrees to go out with her brother and his friends one night. Next thing she knows, Nina is thrown across the galaxy with people she barely knows and starts spying for the so called “Defenders of the Universe.”

Somehow, drunk Lance ended up sending a cheesy pick up line to a random number. And guess who replies? None other than Keith, a friend of Pidge and someone who doesn't interact with most people outside of his circle.

Summary
He slowed down as he stared at the backs of the rest of the paladins. None of them notice that he stopped following. Lance always chased after him, them. Falling and failing to keep up, yet he always got back up. He always got back up, but not this time. This time Lance chooses to stay down.
After the final battle against Haggar, the war was finally won. Parades were held across the universe to celebrate, but the work of a Paladin never ends. As the remaining Paladins return to the Altean Colony, they come across information that puts together what really happened to Lance and maybe find a way to save him.

"Don’t," Lance snapped, eyes flashing. He pushed his chair back.
Keith stood up too, calm but firm. “You can't keep burying this. It's eating you alive. You think I like seeing you like this?”
Lance’s hands trembled. His jaw clenched. His breath hitched — and then the dam broke.
"You think you know me?!" he yelled, voice cracking. "You don’t get it, Keith. You don’t get what it’s like to wake up every day and feel like you’re stuck in a life that doesn’t belong to you anymore."
Keith stepped forward, but Lance stepped back.
"You get to keep going, being the hero, saving the universe like it’s what you were born to do. And me? I’m just—" He laughed bitterly. "I’m just the guy who stayed behind. Who lost her. Who watched her die and couldn’t do a damn thing."
Keith opened his mouth, but Lance kept going, voice hoarse now.
"Sometimes I wish it had been you instead of her," he said, barely above a whisper. "At least then— then maybe I wouldn’t have to look at you and be reminded of everything I’m not."
Silence. Thick and heavy. -
