Summary
Children who develop magical abilities do so at the age of 15. They are enrolled into the academy and stay there until their magical abilities have developed completely after the age of 25 and afterwards work for the magic industry with jobs such as fighting crime when needed, becoming a professor at the magic academy (or both), etc.
Barely any students leave earlier than 25 because no one is strong enough yet but there still have been a few in the years. Cheng Xiaoshi and Lu Guang are one of the strongest there and are two of the very few who get double abilities. There are also premature students who developed their powers earlier than the age of 15 and enrolled into the academy already such as Cheng Xiaoshi.
This is the start of their story.

Cheng Xiaoshi is often plagued by nightmares.
If he had a chance to take a pill to never sleep again, he would take it, physical repercussions be damned. He both hates and craves the act of resting, the idea of being able to experience nothingness for hours at a time sounding like a fantasy.
But more often than not, on his old, worn out bunk, he can feel the horror creeping up on him in his subconscious, leaving room for dread, a feeling worse than having to face the real thing.

Lu Guang is one of these creatures, an ancient vampire known as his superstitious title 'the White Terror,' who personally wants nothing more than to be left alone, be far away from humans, and stay locked up in his mansion hidden somewhere on his vast forest property. His ideal days consist of napping six out of seven days of the week, and taking long hunting trips with his adopted-daughter/vassal Elizabeth, a young werebeast under his care among others.
Cheng Xiaoshi, a mysterious priest and slayer-in-training, has other plans.

Summary
Through the sound of the rain, a melody reached his ears, delicate and haunting. A voice, pure and ethereal, rose and fell with a grace that made the night itself seem to hold its breath.
Lu Guang followed the sound, each note drawing him closer, pulling him away from the comfort of his home but to the opera mansion like a moth to a flame.
There, beneath the shelter of the mansion’s roof, was a crouched figure cloaked in shadows, as he traced his slender finger in the mud while the other hand hugged his knees to his chest. He sang with a sorrowful beauty, each word a brushstroke of melancholy that painted the night in hues of longing and regret.
The white haired stood in the middle of the street, afraid to move, afraid to break the spell. The song wove around him, wrapping him in a cocoon of bittersweet emotion. Memories of regret and family lost to tragedy flashed through his mind. He could feel the pain in his voice, a mirror to his own heartache, yet it was also laced with an undeniable hope, a fragile promise that resonated deep within him.
Just as the final notes faded into the night, his voice lingering in the air like a sigh, their eyes met.
