Summary
A few years ago, the RSC did a completely gender-swapped version of the Taming of the Shrew, where Elizabethan England was a matriarchy. The men are expected to be sweet, demure, and pleasing to women, who are in turn soldiers, leaders, and powerful heads of the family. This story focuses on Cato (Katherine), his relationship with Petruchia (Petruchio) and what might have happened after the end of the play.
Petruchia is gravely ill. She wants her husband. But her husband left her years ago, and rightly so, because she was entitled, arrogant and cruel. Maybe Cato won't arrive.
Cato, shrewish, independant, fierce, unlikeable, ran from the marriage that was supposed to tame him. Now he's running his own tavern, and has a life, and friends, and is finally at peace. And yet he still loves his wife, however cruel she may have been. And when he discovers that she is ill, and demanding to see him, he is faced with a choice. Has she really changed? And does he have it within himself to forgive her?

Summary
You, Lord Christopher Sly, are seated in your own private box in the crowded theater. You’d been promised and entertaining evening. A play in two acts. Still rather drunk, you shuffle around, not quite able to get comfortable. “Everything all right, my lord, my husband?” asks your supposedly-your-wife in her tenor voice. “Yes, fine, madam wife” you respond, “just a little warm in here,” and with that you pull off your coat. You pull the program out of the pocket to read it, it takes time, but you get through the stars. Starring: Kate as Katerina, Petra as Petruchio, and Lucas as Lucentio. You flip the page to try to read the summery, but just then the lights dim, and the play begins.
