How does he come to terms with his feelings on the matter, and how does he confront his fellow states?

God, he hated how much his emotions affected him. None of the Midwest said anything to him about it. There was no teasing, no insults about it. Even though they were so understanding, Indiana couldn’t help but feel like it made him weak. They treated him kinder than they treated each other, and gave exceptions to Indiana. He was a state for God’s sake! He should be stronger than this.
