“Eyes up, problem child!” A hand seized the back of his costume, yanking him out of the trajectory of another invisible shot. Aizawa’s goggles flashed, red targeting overlay reflected in the tinted lenses.
He’d erased someone.
But who?
Across the mock city block, the “villain” bots lay in smoking heaps, their training rounds untouched. The observation drones above sparked and dropped from the sky one by one, as if something had reached into their code and flipped them off like light switches.
Then he appeared.
A man in a black suit, tie perfectly straight, hair neatly combed. Perfectly average height, perfectly average features. He looked like he should be standing in a bank, asking if they wanted to open a savings account.
Instead he stepped through falling debris like it didn’t exist, hands folded behind his back.
“Target anomaly located,” he said, his voice eerily flat. “Subject: Midoriya Izuku. Designation: Glitch.”
Izuku’s heart stumbled.

Fifteen years of self-doubt, of training herself harder than anyone, of pushing herself to the limit, of living with a prophecy that assigned her fairtytale princess. Fifteen years that became a dull ache in her belly. Fifteen years of watching all of Morpheus' potentials fail; of her devout belief in a savior becoming indifference.
Fifteen years later, and she watches Neo sputter and writhe as imaginary bullets pierce him in an imaginary hallway. A foreign feeling surges out of her, and she knows, she knows, she knows the profound truth.

Summary
During the day, or whatever passes as day underground anyway, Will butts heads on the Nebuchadnezzar. He wanted normalcy, but Morpheus ripped it out of existence, and now he's forced to wear the name Neo like it means a damn thing. The only person who doesn't treat him like some sort of otherworldly being is Trinity, who insists on going by his blue pill name, Hannibal, and never begrudges Will his attachment to the world they all left behind. Unplugging tastes like regret, and hell if he's going to say that to anyone else on this ship.
In the quiet of the nighttime, Hannibal dreams of indulging Will's idea of a normal life again—a comfortably-sized house with a soft dog and a warm kitchen, preferably with Hannibal in it too. He can't seem to shake off the real world bleeding into his dreams though, and sometimes they feel more akin to nightmares.
