Alonzo takes a moment to nuzzle his head against Munkustrap’s shoulder, runs his thumbs over Munkustrap’s hips under his untucked shirt. “No one can see us here.”
“What if someone walks in,” Munkustrap says, without as much sternness as he’d like, staring down at the doorway.
“Then you’ll have to be quiet until they leave,” Alonzo says, a smile apparent in his voice, and kisses Munkustrap’s cheek and jaw and neck until he gives in and lets Alonzo turn him back against the wall. Alonzo’s fingers, warmed by his skin, feel chilly again when they slide over Munkustrap’s stomach. “Come on, hey, five minutes.”

“You worried about something again?” It’s somewhat of a careless thing to say, but Alonzo tilts his head and looks at him with care just fine. It’s a promising expression; he will listen, and then he’ll tell Munkustrap that he’s overthinking things.
But that’s sort of Munkustrap’s thing. Overthinking. He bites his tongue on it, though, and goes through with the usual.
“Not particularly.” He beats down the urge to fidget with his fingers and brings them down to Alonzo’s face instead. Traces a claw down the side of Alonzo’s jaw, slow, the way he knows Alonzo likes, and gives him as good a smile as he’s got. “Just, ah, having a bit of a tough go at keeping myself present.”

Or, Munkustrap picks his battles. Alonzo thinks their lives would be much easier if he put some of them back.

“Can’t hurt worse than yours,” Alonzo tries, guilt rearing its ugly head, but Munkustrap shuts it down with half a hiss, as clear a demand to keep it to himself as ever.
Alonzo keeps it to himself. It doesn’t make him feel much better.
