"No, anything but this. I beg of you." His grip faltered on his longsword, angled low in his hands, the sharp tip connecting to the grassy ground.
"The favor has to be paid, my dear boy. Come over here, I won't ask again!"

The night was always the best time in the city. The breeze would sharpen and bring a slight crisp along with it, the lights of the city shining their brightest, and the noises seemed to soften, despite the streets and buildings bustling with folks cheering and celebrating a hard day’s work. Edison Capital was the artificial sun in the country, shining the brightest at all times. Every citizen had a dream and was almost always linked to this shining star, the capital of all capitals.

Chip knows himself and he knows his place in this story. He’s not like the protagonist, the player that fucks up and still gets the girl in the end.
He doesn’t even want a girl. He just wants Gillion. And he’s not sure how to express that, considering that he’s having this thought as he watches the stare straight forward while Lizzie makes them rerun the instructions again.
“And finally, what is the number one rule, above all of the rest?” Lizz– Captain Lafayette says to them, in an almost condescending voice.
“That we don’t engage with Niklaus.” Gillion and Chip say with finality.
