Peter dies and is met with Rumi’s face, but not Rumi. Exandroth stalls fighting and distracts Peter by dancing with him until he gains the power to possess Peter’s dead body to make it his own rather than a vessel.
Rumi cannot find their true self without Peter, and hates themselves. Once met with Peter’s body but not Peter, instead Exandroth they crumble, realising all is lost for them.

Peter dances with Exandroth who has the body of Rumi as he is blinded by love, and dies. And then Rumi dances with Exandroth who controls the body of their lover, Peter because it is the first and last time they ever will get to dance with the face of their lover.

Elena nodded, placing a kiss on his chin. “For you, I would kill them all again a thousand times over.”
A goofy smile spread across his face, eyes shutting tight. “I just wish I could have been there to see you swallow him. …Sounds really hot.”
They laughed, and Peter ducked his head into their chest as if hiding his face in shame. “Ooh, you think so?”
His head nodded vigorously against them, mussing up his already quite frazzled hair. They couldn’t see his blushing face, but he seemed to grow even warmer against their chest. “Kinda wish you could do that to me.”
