You stare down at your food, losing your appetite at the sight of moist beans and dry rice. The bland, dingy orange tray sat on a messy prison cafeteria table, decorated with dust. You could almost feel a cold, unsettling breeze pinch at your skin.
Other criminals settled in around you, bumping shoulders and inevitably letting an uncomfortable closeness settle. The undeniable hunger growing inside you, humid atmosphere and irritable voices makes everything almost suffocating. You try not to faint as your eyelids pull themselves downward, fluttering themselves to a halt on your lower eyelids.
When you open your eyes, you’re almost able to forget that you’re not in a prison anymore. Instead, you are sitting on a cold, uncomfortable metal seat- damn your ass hurts. A grumble escapes your throat while your eyes adjust to the red lighting, enclosed into a crammed space. You realize the shoulders bumping you are your peers— or rather prisoners forced into the same situation you’ve found yourself in.
This company.. Urbanshade, was it? Sketchy and untrustworthy, but reluctant, you take the offer you couldn’t deny. Freedom in exchange for opening a few doors? Surely it wasn’t as easygoing as they painted it out to be. -

“I told Innovation that they’ll need to pick us up sometime between 10:50 and 11," Sebastian explains. "But they won’t send anyone down unless we get Urbanshade off the crystal first.”
At first, to Painter, that sounds like an impossible feat. Urbanshade’s hard to deter; they wouldn't go down without a fight. Yet, they trust Sebastian– they know his intelligence and what he’s capable of. If anyone can sabotage that company, it’s him.
“Then… what do we do?” Their face shifts to the top of their screen as if staring up at him.
Sebastian clasps his two frontmost hands together, a sly grin overtaking him. "We take it ourselves.”
Merely two days after the Hadal Blacksite first spirals into lockdown, Sebastian manages to secure an escape route for both himself and Painter. With all other options exhausted and Urbanshade closing in fast, all he can do is hope Innovation keeps their word.

A few months after escaping the blacksite, Sebastian and his friend PAInter and two others, Kira and his Daughter Imani, found themselves living in Khaliyah's home. Khaliyah, a short black woman with long dreadlocks pulled into a ponytail, worked tirelessly to keep the roof over their heads. Juggling two jobs was no easy feat, especially since she had taken on the responsibility of managing the rent and bills after her mother passed away.
Though they were all dealing with their own challenges, there was a sense of camaraderie that made their living situation feel like a small haven amidst the chaos. They often gathered in the living room after her shifts, sharing stories and laughter while supporting each other through the tough times. Despite the circumstances, there was a warmth in their makeshift family—each person contributing their strength to overcome the shadows of their past.

Sebastian’s arm was burning.
It was a feeling he knew well. It was a clean shot through the meat of his lower arm, in and out. It’s right next to the wound he’d already wrapped – the bullet tore through bandage, skin and muscle with ease. The hole was bleeding sluggishly, weeping red liquid so vivid against the blue of his skin and the off-white of the bandages. Sebastian didn’t want to look at it.

The submarine was easy to reach by comparison, and he had to be cautious not to bowl anyone over with his tail as he slithered inside, his body curled around Painter. Someone shouted orders unintelligible to Sebastian’s ears, and the hatch began to shut. He made the vague, half-formed realization that, if this was all real and not a SPRINT-based hallucination, this was the last time he would ever see Urbanshade again. Then the hatch shut, and he lost consciousness.

What if the expendable was young? Specifically a teenager, roughly fourteen or fifteen. Sebastian is still an asshole, but he seems to care more than he lets on. He just shows it SOMETIMES, not always. Painter is just...concerned. He thought he had it bad, but somehow she proved him wrong in more ways than one.
This teenager is badass, in some ways, but very scared and traumatized underneath.
She started out with a rough life, and it seems it'll only get harder from here.
A testament of how much one young woman can endure. How much can this girl handle before she cracks?
