Peridot lost everything. She was just going to use the breaking point she had made to shatter herself, but of course the others had to misunderstand and think she was going to shatter someone else.
Broken by Garnets words of expulsion from the crystal gems, she doesn't bother correcting them and runs away, with no intent of coming back. Ever.
But when a strange Emerald finds her in woods, and offers her a opportunity that could give her a home again, she accepts despite her pain.
Too bad she gets way more than she bargained for.

Peridot had been hurt before. Homeworld had messed up practices and punishments, and undoubtedly Peridot got the worst of it. But she was fine, she had friends who cared about her. When her mental health starts to take a dive, nobody notices except for Lapis and Bismuth. Everyone is focused on Steven, and her feelings don't matter.

Peridot and Lapis both had a bit of an aversion to the Galaxy Warp.
Lapis of course hated that place because that's where she had been abandoned. Peridot didn't like it because that's where she had originally been poofed by the Crystal Gems. And, while that ended up being for the better, it was still an upsetting experience to wake up in a room full of bubbles without her limb enhancers.
Neither of them had a want to ever go back there, but eventually, the time came when they would need to.

He looks at her strangely. “You keep using ‘we.’ How can you know how Peridot feels when you haven’t talked to her? Because I just talked to her, and I don’t think she feels the same way.”
“W-why doesn’t she just talk to me, then?” she says softly, sounding much less frustrated than she intended to, which is the opposite of what usually happens to her. As soon as the words come out of her mouth she feels stupid. A twinge of guilt makes itself known in her stomach. Of course Peridot doesn’t want to talk to her...she’s afraid she’ll make her mad. She probably thinks she’ll be abandoned again. -
