Summary
It was all such a blur to him. One moment, he was laying on the ground in the rain, covered in blood and dirt and full of bullets. Right, Cloud was there too, looking like a drowned cat with how hard the downpour was. Zack was glad to finally see him conscious. He remembered giving him the Buster Sword, then everything went dark.
The next time he woke, he was in a hospital. Sitting at his bedside was a much different Cloud, a much older Cloud compared to when he saw him last.

Summary
The Zack Cloud remembered was straight-up handsy. Always there to put a balancing hand to the middle of Cloud's back when he stumbled, or tugging Cloud eagerly along by the hand; casually directing him with a touch on the waist, squeezing his shoulder when Cloud began to tense, knocking their sides together when Zack could feel Cloud’s anxiety starting to spike. And always, always stepping in front of Cloud in battle, unerringly protective.
Zack comes back. He isn't the same.

Summary
Once, many years ago when Cloud was just a trooper, he was sent to pick up an injured SOLDIER and take him to his next mission. Sick and injured, Genesis was in no shape to be doing anything of the sort. The SOLDIER didn't really understand why Cloud stuck around to help him out, but he appreciated it far more than Cloud ever knew.
Genesis made Cloud promise to come see him in Midgar and watch Loveless together once he'd made SOLDIER himself, but after failing the exams Cloud was too embarrassed to seek him out.
A new theater opening in Edge sends Cloud a complimentary ticket to the famous play, and Cloud decides its time to keep his promise to at least watch it even though the man he'd briefly fallen in love with is long dead.

He gasps as he pushes further inside and molten pleasure climbs up his spine like a slithering snake. He inhales shakily as he's taken, as his body is pushed into, as it clings and pulls the other body deeper in.
Feverish haze blurs his vision. Stars are still falling above…falling down to where they are.

Summary
Cloud is just starting to settle into life with Genesis when he starts experiencing bouts of back pain. It's nothing, really, until it is.
It isn't until he's on his way home from a long haul delivery that the pain gets bad enough for him to take it seriously, but by then, it's much too late.
Cloud's back pain wasn't nothing. It was a sign of something much worse, something that changes everything he thought he knew about himself. He can never go back home, but he's a fool for thinking that Genesis would ever let him go.
