The Citadel Alliance: A political union nearly 3000 years old, made of a dozen different civilizations that have discovered the bygone relics of a powerful Empire and has taken its mantle as their seat of governance, using them to work together in the idea peace of cooperation and mutual interest
They've never met before, and for the most part, were wholly unaware of another.

Summary
For 27 years the Human-Covenant War has waged and despite the courage, bravery, creativity, and sacrifice of the United Nations Space Command Defense Forces, Colonial Militias, Insurrectionists, and Local Law Enforcement humanity is losing. Reach, humanity's fortress among the stars has fallen and now the Covenant are poised to strike at the humanity's heart, Terra or as older texts refer to it, Earth.
A High Hierarch or Prophet as the humans call them, weaves his own designs as a highly decorated commander is tried and convicted of Hersey and shall be sent on dangerous missions that for anyone else other than he would be at best called suicidal.
While in the depths of the void and on a ringworld, a darker will bides its time, waiting for the opportune moment to spread its tendrils and expand.
