‘Good news’ is what Evangeline’s name translate to from Greek. Her mother used to say that she chose the name because when she found out that she was pregnant with her, after so many years of trying and failing, the good news of her being pregnant made her cry.
The irony of her name, contrasting against the bad news that seems to follow her where she goes.
Being diagnosed with cancer at ten, her mom dying when she was eighteen, her aunt being diagnosed with terminal lung cancer and dying a year after and naming Evangeline her heir when she was twenty-three.
Evangeline, still in the fog of grief, now has to deal with balancing the politics and traditions of the Knights of the Round Table - the old guard who never hide the fact that they held a strong dislike and prejudice towards her or her late mother - and discovering the full depth of her witchcraft and heritage.
She also struggles with her role as Alucard's new master, all his crude mechanisms and his complete, utter devotion that always leaves her baffled. She knew he had an unique relationship with her aunt, but theirs feels very different.
And then she falls into a fae-road, traveling back in time, beginning her odyssey.
