“Almost there, guys.” Mark flicked on his blinker and saw Helly tense in the rearview mirror. Gemma brought a hand up to her shoulder. She kept her eyes on the car's floor.

She’d popped up, blurry eyed, to see Ms. Casey, comforter clasped to her (clothed) front, standing beside the bed. Her head swung from Helly, to Mark, to where she’d laid between them. “What… is occurring?”

At first it had seemed the reintegration had been a failure, the first in their short history of being administered officially by what was left of Lumon. Gemma felt like Gemma afterwards, nothing more, nothing less. After a few days without any change, Gemma felt a sense of disappointment, of loss. She had wanted to free this long trapped part of herself, this mysterious Ms. Casey, to give her a chance at a life she could have never imagined. But sadly, it seemed she wouldn't be able to.
Then she started losing time.

Helena opened her eyes again, the world still warbling, still untrustworthy… but the world, all the same. It was only her that was changing. Gemma was changing too, shifting her weight to lean against Helly on the couch. Helena’s head quirked, blinking, looking inside. She turned to Gemma and Gemma looked back at her, her eyes a little more doe-like, becoming larger and smaller in illusory waves.
“I think… she’s awake,” Helena said, softly, the nausea still there, laboring her breath… but she smiled as Gemma took in her meaning, smiling back.
“Yeah,” she whispered, “Me too.”
[Devon trip sits her reintegrating girlfriends.]

Time readjusted and Helena realized the two events had occurred immediately after one another, that that dilation in their exchange was… something else, not ‘real’. Another wave of nausea sent her sinking back against the couch, breathing, looking away from Devon and the mess she was making of time.
In reality the barriers themselves were the trauma, the individuality unnatural to begin with, and the breaking of them more traumatic still.
Three more hours… a couple more years. Or decades, for Gemma and Casey… but three hours was it, for now. Three uncomfortable hours of holding Gemma and Helena inside of them at higher degrees and for longer periods than any of them were used to…

“Of course.” Mark rolls his eyes. She doesn’t seem to notice.
“But your tract is too scarred to use the same approach. My modified technique won’t cause you any permanent damage, but there may be some… somatosensory effects.” She glances down at his crotch, and Mark feels his face flush with shame and anger.
Reghabi is forced to adjust her approach to reach Mark’s chip. To both of their horror, it involves stimulating the pleasure centers of his brain.

It starts with a nosebleed.
Helly hovers nearby, the image of blood smeared on his cheek still fresh in her mind. Miss Huang's voice fades to a dull hum as her gaze catches on Mark's hand, his fingers wrapped around the edge of the desk. Her mind immediately flashes to exactly where that hand was not even an hour ago, and she's sure her face is flushed as she recalls how wonderful he made her feel.
Everything since she returned to the severed floor has been a nightmare that she can’t escape, but this. This is one good thing. Something that belongs just to her and Mark.
Something that no one can take away from her.
But then Miss Huang suddenly calls out Mark's name, her voice shrill with panic. When Helly looks at him, his face is paler than it should be, his gaze vacant, and a thick tendril of fear slithers through her veins.
