Summary
The camcorder sits open on the car’s dash with his innie’s face frozen on the foldout screen. There’d been no reason for Mark Scout to watch the recording again; he has it almost memorized by this point, at least the part that matters. His innie’s words still ring in his ears, said flippantly and jovially and with no idea how they’d affect him. Strange, too, since they’re the same person.
“You know, I’ve been thinking—I’ve met Helena a few times now. Maybe you should meet Helly?”
He’d heard nothing from Helly since they’d started this arrangement, and he’d begun to give up hope he ever would. Why would he anyway? She doesn’t know him. But still, every time his innie sends him a message, he studies the corners of each frame for a glimpse of her, turns the volume up in the hopes he’ll hear the whisper of her voice.
--
A year and a half post-Cold Harbor, Mark Scout and Helena Eagan drive to Damon Birthing Retreat each weekend so that their innies can spend time together. When Mark's innie gets the bright idea for Mark Scout and Helly R. to meet, things start to unravel.

Summary
Something floods through her when their lips meet, hot and sticky like gratification. Some part of her really wanted this. That same part of her is probably what made Helena loop the tape last night, over and over until it singed her vision. That same part led her to scan a card with full security clearance, just to get him alone.
After the first kiss, Helena finds pleasure at the fact that Helly R. isn’t the one doing this.
After the second, Mark pulls away.
Or: Helena has a fixation. She doesn't realize who she takes it out on.

Summary
Mark awakens in the elevator and finds he is holding his hand over his eyes, which is weird. And even weirder, he can make out some letters in his field of vision. It looks like they are floating in the air. He closes his eyes and now sees the outline clearly. It says "Who is alive?"
An AU diverging in one tiny way: when Reghabi shows up while Mark is in his car trying to burn an image into his retinas (S2E3), he decides not to talk to her. This causes all the events of S2 to unfold differently: Mark doesn't start reintegrating that night, and he figures out how to communicate with his innie. Innie Mark doesn't get a nosebleed, so he doesn't miss work, and instead he and Helly try and figure out how to rescue Ms. Casey and find the black hallway. Mark doesn't have experimental brain surgery, and it turns out that not having their brains scrambled leaves both Marks in a better mood with more capacity to cultivate a relationship with each other. Innie Mark arrives at the birthing cabin (S2E9/10) feeling cared for by his outie, and their conversation goes a bit differently. How might this affect their prospects for a successful reintegration and the momentous decision innie Mark will make at the exit stairwell?

Summary
Mark’s wearing a dark green sweater, grayish pants, and stumbling out of his snow boots. “Oh.” He says, giving Petey a look, brow furrowed beneath his shaggy hair. He hasn’t shaved. “I uh..” He points a thumb backwards.
Petey cuts him off. “Thought you were going to work?”
Mark looks almost guilty. He’s missed that look. Petey raises an eyebrow, crosses his arms over his chest. “Playing hooky?”

Summary
Mark knows he has to tell Helly about what happened on the retreat. If he doesn’t, Milchick will or even Dylan might—there’s no doubt he’d heard them in the night—and he knows that the only way he has any chance of repairing the broken trust between them is to tell her himself.
When he looks back at the mirror, he sees several of his own face staring back at him, like a reflection of a reflection of a reflection. He flinches and staggers backward; the movement shatters the illusion, and in an instant, he’s back to looking at the single image of himself, looking confused and bewildered into the mirror’s surface.
It’s not the first time he’s seen something that’s not there.
--
Canon divergence post-Trojan's Horse. After Milchick's threat, Mark knows he needs to tell Helly what happened at the ORTBO, but it's not quite as easy as it seems.
