Summary
"Both Helly and Helena, they’ve found, do agree on some things. After all, they are one in the same, even if she’s too stubborn to admit it. They both like expensive wine. They both detest long car rides. And they both love earning Mark’s approval."
//
Hellyna's reintegration is complicated; sometimes, Mark can help with her with that.

Summary
“The classical approach is designed to protect the person being severed from receiving sensory input during the procedure. Not pain; we use local anaesthetic to the scalp, and the brain itself has no nerve endings, of course.”
“Of course.” Mark rolls his eyes. She doesn’t seem to notice.
“But your tract is too scarred to use the same approach. My modified technique won’t cause you any permanent damage, but there may be some… somatosensory effects.” She glances down at his crotch, and Mark feels his face flush with shame and anger.
Reghabi is forced to adjust her approach to reach Mark’s chip. To both of their horror, it involves stimulating the pleasure centers of his brain.

Summary
It’s the third time Devon has watched her sister’s head collide with cold, ceramic kitchen tile.
She wonders if the occurrence ever becomes normal. She wonders if one day, she’ll visit Mark and, when the fall inevitably happens, she’ll react logically, not viscerally. She’ll laugh it off, quip something along the lines of “You alright, m’lady?” and retrieve an ice pack from a well-stocked freezer.
In which Devon attempts to support her transgender sister as they grow up together.

Summary
In the aftermath of ORTBO, each time Mark leaves work, he has been noticing tremors running through him.
It's always brief and stops before the elevator even rises to the main level, so he pushes it off as a side effect of reintegration.
Until one day, he finds himself quickly wiping his eyes from tears he never cried before Judd can see when the elevator doors open.

Summary
[By the way: facing the wall, such gentlemen—that is, the “direct” persons and men of action—are genuinely nonplussed. For them a wall is not an evasion, as for us people who think and consequently do nothing; it is not an excuse for turning aside, an excuse for which we are always very glad, though we scarcely believe in it ourselves, as a rule. No, they are nonplussed in all sincerity. The wall has for them something tranquillising, morally soothing, final—maybe even something mysterious ... but of the wall later.]

Summary
It starts with a nosebleed.
Helly hovers nearby, the image of blood smeared on his cheek still fresh in her mind. Miss Huang's voice fades to a dull hum as her gaze catches on Mark's hand, his fingers wrapped around the edge of the desk. Her mind immediately flashes to exactly where that hand was not even an hour ago, and she's sure her face is flushed as she recalls how wonderful he made her feel.
Everything since she returned to the severed floor has been a nightmare that she can’t escape, but this. This is one good thing. Something that belongs just to her and Mark.
Something that no one can take away from her.
But then Miss Huang suddenly calls out Mark's name, her voice shrill with panic. When Helly looks at him, his face is paler than it should be, his gaze vacant, and a thick tendril of fear slithers through her veins.

or, Mark forgets bit by bit.

Summary
"An “of course,” followed out of pure obligation. They were not talking; they were merely repeating lines. In the moment of lucidity, a reprieve from visual and auditory stimulation, Mark realized what the visions meant, what they implied. It hit him like a ton of Lumon-manufactured bricks, forcing him to bite down on his lip to keep his poker face. He’d fucked Helena Eagan. He’d fucked both Helena Eagan and…. His innie had…"
Or: What if Mark's reintegration progressed faster than he or Reghabi could have imagined? What if his memories began to flood back during his conversation with Helena at the Chinese restaurant? What if Helena had taken more from Mark than his outie ever could have imagined?

Summary
Mark Scout has handed in his resignation notice, but Lumon isn't willing to let him go. Harmony Cobel decides to proceed with an unorthodox policy, and the company keeps Mark S. trapped inside the severed floor, away from MDR and unable to escape. Devon will stop at nothing to get her brother back, and Petey won't give up until he finds Mark again.
-
Set in the Petey era of MDR, pre-season 1. Please read the author's note at the beginning as it clarifies some stuff. I love Severance so much I could chew through metal. This show made me insane and I'm forever thankful.

Summary
Mark is lucky, he knows it. He holds the thought in the center of his mind and tries not to forget it. He is here because he got lucky, because his sister loves him, and things could have been so much worse.
Knowing that things could be worse, though, doesn't really change the fact that they're still really fucking hard.

Summary
The face in the mirror looks back at him, impassive. Mark looks away because he still can't decide if it's a stranger's face or his own looking back at him. If it's what stares out at him in the glass, then that means it has to be his, but Mark can't tell if he recognizes it. Is it familiar? Are you sure?
Wait. What are you-?

Summary
It takes all of five minutes for Mark to finish his meal, and another three minutes before he’s motioning to her nearly untouched plate. “Are you gonna finish that?” He asks shamelessly.
For some mysterious reason, this brings a smile to Helena’s face. There’s a level of domesticity involved with eating at a restaurant with someone like this, a level of intimacy that’s required to feel comfortable with asking someone to share their food. Mark doesn’t know her out here, but they still manage to share some kind of connection.

Summary
His outie, his other self, whatever — he's not a good liar, he wears everything on his sleeve, flaunts it even, and forgets to pay attention to who is over him, watching it all, and what they could do to him. He's not a good liar, but Mark is; it's an important skill, and by now Mark can do it on instinct.
Even like this. Especially like this. Mark is fine. He's barely even dizzy, this time.

Summary
“I’m the big villain, aren’t I?” she says, looking at the glass of water she has before her. “I hurt your friends. I deceived you. I’m Lumon and Lumon is the enemy.”
He looks at her. Her bangs, carefully brushed to one side, her delicate fingers tapping on the counter. Helly’s hair, Helly’s fingers. But not quite. It all tangles and overlaps in his mind, Helly defiant and loud, spitting a pen cap in his hand. The light of the fire turning her hair into molten copper. Helena but not quite.“I think you’re just a person, Helena.”
—
The reintegration process teaches Mark some things. He wonders if Helena might benefit from knowing these things also.

Summary
Helly is soft where Helena is sharp. When Helly’s eyes inflate they shine, glistening in the harsh LEDs of the office. Helena’s eyes were narrow and searching, the light never quite managing to capture the same glow.
But Helena was funny, he remembers laughing around the campfire and stealing glances only to find her already looking at him. Searching, he thinks. He doesn’t know what she was hoping to find.
