The man moved with the same predatory grace he always had, and if he had aged in the past five years (it was a bit hard to tell from a subpar camera on the other side of the street) then he had aged well. Which was all entirely predictable of course. No, what had thrown Q and everyone else in the ops center who had ever met Bond or read his file was the way that he was dressed - faded blue jeans with holes in the knees, a t-shirt from some unidentifiable but probably local surf shop, and-
“Are you wearing Converse?” demanded Q before he could think better of it.
Bond’s eyes unerringly found the camera through which Q was watching, an expression of vague displeasure. “Well, I don’t generally make a habit of wearing suits to fix my boat, and I doubted you had the patience for me to change.” .James Bond has been retired for five years. But when a highly sensitive mission goes to hell just a few miles from where he as settled down Q is forced to ask for his help. Bond and Q return easily to their old ways - they are also forced to finally confront their feelings for each other.

James Bond was a code name. He'd been using it long enough that he'd begun to think of himself by the name. But he wasn't particularly attached to it. So when Q demanded to not use the name outside of work, as a condition of them dating, he agreed easily.
Just why Q had issued that requirement sparked his curiosity. But it would take time, and plenty of stubbornness, to find the answer. It would also reveal other surprising revelations regarding the Quartermaster's history.

A lot of things change in two years, no matter how much James Bond tries to deny that. MI6 is -shockingly - more competent, R&D department has a building all to itself, R insists that she's the new Q despite her being perceived by James as a moody teenager and nothing else, James loses his designated number, and Q is a double oh agent who hates his guts.

After his retirement at the end of Spectre, Bond returns to Q for even more help. Q isn't happy about it, but relents when Bond gives him a bloody bullet that was used to murder Madeleine Swann and frame Bond for the crime. The bullet turns out to be a Q Branch prototype, and Q's suddenly got a few problems on his hands, including: a mole in Q Branch, a fugitive and retired 00 hiding out at his house and insisting on feeding him up, and Q doing his best to solve Swann's murder--and possibly his own.
Story is complete!

He waits for Q’s nimble fingers to finish the brew to his tastes. Then Q stirs the drink in his hands over and over again. Q has a slight hunch on his back, a slack on his movements, and bags under his eyes.
He has this far-away look in his eyes as he stirs his tea. Looking, but not quite seeing. He stirs in different patterns: clockwise, counterclockwise, a figure eight, zigzag horizontally, then vertically, then repeat. Bond opens his mouth to voice out his concern, but Q beats him to it.
“Ever heard of the Brouwer Fixed Point Theorem, 007?”
“Sorry?”
