Summary
Keith still wasn’t sure how it had happened, but the irritating boy had a way of getting under your skin, wearing you down until you admitted defeat and accepted his friendship. And for all that he still drove Keith crazy, constantly needling him and making him the butt of his worst jokes, Keith somehow found himself trusting the boy in a way he had never trusted anyone else.
Keith had a rough and tumultuous childhood. As a result he never had much time for introspection. It takes a few bottles of alien wine, and Lance’s help for him to make an important discovery about himself.

Lance’s first ever glimpse of the gym owner (Keith, as he’ll later learn) is from the back… and from that point on, he’s fucking sold. Sculpted thick thighs that could crush a watermelon between them, a perky little ass stretching out what are essentially glorified yoga pants, the rippling muscles of his shoulders beneath that flimsy tank top, and a fucking ponytail at the nape of his neck. Fuck.
And then Keith turns around and time slows down, roses and hearts appear around Keith’s gorgeous face, and Lance promptly forgets his own name when Keith jogs over and asks him for it.

Summary
Years after the war ended, Takashi Shirogane didn't know what he needed or wanted. He was lost. So, he set out to find himself. And to do that he thought he needed and wanted to stop focusing on those words-
“Shiro, please! You’re my brother, I love you!” and the scar he left behind.
Thought that to mend the broken pieces of himself back together, that he needed stability, to be grounded. That he needed space, but not the kind filled with stars, with blood, with screams- with his traumas, his guilts. To start over, with new people. Distance himself from everything and everyone that reminded him of the war.
He didn't.
Not until later would he know. When he stood vigil over Keith, who had been locked up and tortured until they rescued him, that was when Shiro began to think again. And it wasn't until after Keith woke up, unable to talk, looking like that lost and terrified kid that Shiro once knew so long ago-
That Shiro finally heard a thought that sounded right. That maybe what he was seeking all along, was to mend broken promises and be here for Keith. As Keith was there for him. Also, for Keith to say his name.
Takashi would give anything to hear it once more, even just one last time.
