It's only been one semester since Aubrey became a freshman. Aubrey doesn't really know Sunny Suzuki, Yeah sure he's in her class and is consistently participating, but he just likes to keep to himself.
Aubrey would've been fine with just leaving him alone as he wished but fate had different plans.
Sunny has no idea how to coordinate his College Hellscape but Fortunately, at least he's not struggling alone. Aubrey's here to struggle with him.

A fantastic fic. Really good stuff. Only part that holds it back is the fact that while it is the OMORI characters, they aren't really the "OMORI characters." Sunny isn't the Sunny we know, Mari isn't the Mari we know, etc. Aubrey and her story especially are radically different from her canon counterpart, seeing as her mom isn't awful, and her dad is epic and cool, she doesn't even live in Faraway! So, while this is a fantastically written fic, it doesn't really touch much on the source material. It's more like a bizzarro OMORI where Basil is abandoned in "mentioned tag" hell, poor guy.
Despite that small nitpick, this whole thing was fantabulous, even if a tiny bit short for some plot points. And surprisingly spicy at times for a fic with no truly explicit scenes to speak of.
Total recommendation for people who live and breathe Sunburn, the one true god!

Summary
Harry foolishly expected his retirement at the ripe age of 17 to be calm. Perhaps a few vacations to the beach, travel the world, see new things now that death wasn’t knocking on his door every other year.
A mistake with a Portkey travel proved this illusion wrong very, very quickly.
Suddenly he was trapped inside a house whose magical wards didn't allow him to leave on his own, with a strange mute(?) boy who was convinced he wasn’t real, and, oh, to make matters worse, he somehow lost his wand in the trip. He was also getting the oddest dreams of a colourful world with a monochrome child, and as strange as that was, it hardly made it to the top ten of his list of concerns.
All in all, this was too bizarre to be a fluke. Experience told him he must’ve been sent here for a reason. Now all he had to do was figure out what that was.
Meanwhile, Sunny's half-there conscience had no idea why, out all possible hallucinations to have while awake to such a painfully detailed degree, his brain landed on Harry freaking Potter. And no, Harry, he didn't know how to "turn off the wards" of his house, whatever that was supposed to mean. Just let him go back to sleep!

Summary
Sunny told the truth to his friends and he wasn't surprised by their reactions. It's already been three months after moving away and trying to slowly pick up the pieces and finally mend himself, only he finds he's not strong enough to do it after all.
Sunny read the card on his friend's gift:
'Irises are the carriers of many meanings, mainly hope and the message of promises. I hope you're doing okay, Sunny'“I'm sorry, Basil. I'm breaking my promise to you again.”
Sunny gives up, only to wake up back to his twelve year old self, to his old home where everything is still the same and the accident hasn't yet taken place while everyone else is trying to work through knowing the truth behind Mari's death.

It had been 3 and a half years since Mari had committed suicide.
Aubrey had since joined a new gang of people she could call friends, but unlike the people she knew before, she didn't forget about and abandon Mari, the same way she herself was abandoned following Mari's death.
Passing by Mari's old house, Aubrey is reminded of Sunny, Mari's younger brother, who had since locked himself inside, abandoning her to her problems like the others. That's fine, she never needed him anyways.
But a dream that night lets Aubrey know that things have been far worse for the boy than she initially imagined, and now she seeks the truth behind what he's truly been through.

It's hard for all of them, particularly with Sunny being separated somewhat by his move, but they've already been through so much. None of them are going to let their group break apart again. That might be a lot easier said that done though, which all of them bearing scars from Mari's death that are still hearing. Aubrey feels that Mari might wish the best for them, that Mari's spirit might be yearning for that even now, just as they all wish for such. But the path ahead will surely be a bumpy one for them all.
