Higgs was dragging himself slowly after him, forearms slipping on the slick ground, his mech squealing with every failed push.
Sam came to a hesitant stop, watching as Higgs slowly caught up to him. And then, barely audible, “Please… please, please, please…” A quiet chant as he hauled himself up.
Sam couldn’t believe what he was hearing, or seeing. Higgs, the particle of god, kneeling on broken legs, begging, eyes wide and pleading.
“Please, Sam… I’ll deteriorate out here. Like lost cargo.”

“I’m stranded, you’re not,” Sam was quick to correct him. And he was right, Higgs could just snap his fingers and vanish off to wherever the hell he goes to spend his spare time. Technically, he wasn’t either. He could leave whenever he wanted, but it would cost him in the long run with worn down materials and damaged cargo.
If he truly wanted to, he could leave his cargo under the shelter and make a run for the city, and grab a bike or a truck there; and maybe some repair spray while he was at it. But just his luck, MULE’s would come and poach his cargo while he was gone.
