I've seen many E2 fics that seem to follow very similar tropes when it comes to how certain characters are portrayed, so I wrote this to see something different. Since the original epilogue of the game makes it pretty clear that the chance of them reuniting is slim to none, I've changed many things about the timeskip. You can consider this a E2.5-E3.5 of sorts. Hope you like it.

Anon's 'take two' still left him no choice but the navy, but he managed to keep things going with Fang, even if it's at an 'on and off' basis. They still keep in contact, and Anon spends leave with them when he can, sometimes they go on walks (but never near any beaches). It's a bit monotonous on the ship but seeing their amber eyes still full of life is worth it.

Through gardening, maybe they'll be able to help each other move on, pulling each other up and out of the spiral of darkness. Maybe they'll end up helping a few others too. And quite possibly, maybe their renewed friendship will lead to something that could’ve happened in the first place, if not for a certain parasaur’s initial schedule-meddling.Maybe there's still a future for all of them, after all.
