Mike squeezes his hand again, and Will closes his eyes tightly. His head is pounding even worse now, and this car feels too small. Everything is just too much.
“Will, can I… can I kiss you?”
“Do you want to talk about it?” Mike asks. He’s speaking in that voice again—gentle and warm, inviting Will to open up and bare his heart to him. “What did he show you, Will?”

“You okay?” he asks, voice gravelly from sleep. Will seems... off, he thinks for a moment, but then he’s kneeling next to Mike and looking down at him and Mike has a hard time thinking about anything other than his eyes.
Despite his curiosity, he’s still so tired, and Will isn’t saying anything else, so his eyes fall shut again, just for a second or two. When he manages to pry them open again, Will is right above him. His knees are on either side of Mike, hands on his chest for balance, his face so close Mike can almost feel his breath.Or:

It's been a year since the streets of Hawkins, Indiana split open, since the Upside Down became the right side up. They managed to kill whatever had become of the last (truly) living member of the Creel house, but not before Hawkins became a ghost town. Now, the population is barely pushing seven hundred, but they decide it's safer that way.
They thought everything with the Upside Down, with Vecna, with the Mindflayer, with Brenner and everything else had ended, had gone away. They thought they were safe, finally.
Oh, how wrong they were.

“I will kill you,” says Will, returning his gaze to Mike.
“No, you will not,” Mike shakes his head.
“No, I will.”
“Yeah, I know, you told me your name ages ago,” Mike starts grinning at his own joke, and Will is really considering slapping him in the face.
“I hate you.”
“No, you don’t.”
Mike’s grin is still wide, but his eyes are soft, and Will can’t shake the feeling that these words mean something else entirely. He still feels Mike’s hands on his own, but he can’t bring himself to let go.
“Hey, guys,” Mike says softly, still looking at Will. “Could you give us a minute?”

Mike tries as hard as he can to ignore his headaches and nightmares, and to fight this weird feeling that keeps growing inside him when he's with his best friend.Basically a rewriting of Stranger Things season 4 (vol. 1) where Mike gets Vecna'd and where Byler isn't just queerbaiting :')
